Shit Happens
There's a lot of shit happening in the world and I'm trying not to be a pessimistic person.
Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about how the world is changing. Money, politics, war, even travel, everything feels like it's shifting. One thing that really caught my attention is how the US dollar might get weaker over the next year. Some big banks are saying it could fall by around 9%. I'm no expert or anything, but I'll bet that whenever the dollar depreciates, suddenly everything costs more, at least if you are purchasing something overseas or on vacation. And I'm scratching my head to understand what's going on with us little people. And meanwhile, there is still no such thing as a war with a finishing line between Ukraine and Russia.

I've seen Russian drones just flying in so far into Russia, even Siberia. I was surprised. And then the Russian launched a series of bombing attacks. Terrible the way that this war has gone on and on. Now they'll all just sit in Turkey and negotiate peace. I can only hope that they actually negotiate and do not go through the motions. Too many people have already died, and we're all drained. By the way, in Britain they are reporting that the government is spending £15 billion on new weapons, submarines and plants in an attempt to make even more.
I realize that nations must be secure, but I simply do not understand how that money could not instead be spent on families, schools or hospitals. If the individuals around you are even able to pay rent and purchase groceries, it simply does not add up that war is receiving most of the investment. They just had an election in Poland and the nation elected a nationalist politician. He beat a candidate who was more EU centered. That's just another sign of how we're all sick of the same we live today, but it is risky. Change is never evil, but I always fear whenever the leaders are that extreme.
And in America, worry about lending in America. America will not go bankrupt, at least according to the head of the Treasury, but he did not necessarily provide a timeline when everything will be fine. He did make some comment, that Donald Trump and China's Xi can now speak to each other and that would calm it down. But you cannot be certain where there is so much uncertainty.
One that did have positive outlook was the technology sector. Microsoft and Nvidia stocks, these are stocks on the comeback. Some think it is going to carry the entire stock market ahead. I do not even invest myself, but I know that there are a lot of people who have money invested in something like this, such as retirement accounts. It serves as a reminder that the technology sector remains better than anything on a massive scale.
Another one is where AI is being used in our day to day life. Now, even people are paying for AI applications, and if they are, then we are answerable for our fate if they at least do some good to us and not another messed up period. Wy problem with this is that the apps will cause more benefit to businesses and less to us. We've already seen it with social media.
I also discovered Japan was one of the most traveled destinations again. Travelers are getting their ideas from Instagram or TikTok, but I do not think so. There are clickbait on the platform that are actually not what the place is. Real traveling, if anything, is to travel in your own terms, hear the people and not to do the trendy thing to do. If I actually make it to Kyoto, better there than writing about some.
