Working, Traveling, and Reconnecting in Surabaya

Since moving back to East Java, I am trying to reconnect with old friends and new, that’s why I love visiting Surabaya, the second largest city in Indonesia. In this city, many things are happening and the community are quite vibrant. It's pretty exciting place to be as well, at least from what I learned.
From my home, it takes about 50 minutes by train ride or an hour, depending on the type of train but I always see it as just another day spending 2 hours commuting and the rest spent on working, soaking up this new place energy and this time, listening to new ideas.
These days I am more well-connected with others who are also doing similar things as I do. It definitely feels a lot more connected and more inspiring to sit down with people from different fields and backgrounds. Not only do I get to learn more but also get my task done faster which is the plus point for this weekly meetup.
I wished I had done this earlier when I was much more passionate on building my own team, startup and what not. Nowadays, I am taking up another role, working in family business which can be quite different than all these. Essentially, I am saying goodbye to my rebellious phase 😜

Since this is my first time, they were taking me to a coffee shop called Ada Apa Dengan Kopi which blends a regular coffee shop and remote friendly environment. The girl from @menulisid definitely picked the right place. It was comfortable to be in minus the coffee that wasn’t so good.

After the group did some work, it was time for us to get some break & dinner. They took me to a place with duck as their specialty. I found this unique matcha sauce being used for the duck toppings. I thought I have seen enough weird stuff but this one is definitely unique!

Once I finished my dinner, it was time to go back home. How I wished to live in such a vibrant city with endless things to do and a place that never sleeps. But back to reality where I’ll have to learn to work on upcoming contracts, reports and stuff.
Words on the street, I’d be sent to Papua, which is a very exciting place to be. So, fingers crossed on that awesome opportunity and venture. I have never been to Papua and if my work sent me there, I'd be very happy to do it.
How was the duck ?
Food looks good 🍜🍛🥡
