A Throwback, The Design of a Good Day

Do you have a place that just feels you? And when you’re in it, you’re productive and happy?

Call me basic after this but there’s something so undeniably great about this place.

Dim lights, a perfect temperature, a well-adjusted table, and a great balance of a chair, make this space one of a kind. Despite its prime location, it’s one of the quietest in town and is a great place to get some work done. Since it has been a while and I am going back to it, I’d like to tell you about it all again.

Perhaps it’s the feeling that I associate with the place but whenever I get the chance to work from here, it really sets the tone of my day. I haven’t found a place like this in the entire town that just feels like you’re in your own world. It’s calm, quiet and peaceful. Like a piece of heaven in the midst of a bustling street. Surprisingly though, not many people visit the place.

Their coffee is standart, in every chain they would definitely sell the same. It tastes the same and is pretty consistent. But what stood out is definitely their space, this particular place because not every place gets to be this quiet, peaceful and relaxes your mind in a good way.

I don’t think most people I know would like this place. First, because going to this place would go against their moral values, second they think the coffee is shit, last but not least it’s overpriced. So, it’s why whenever I go here, I always go alone to get some work done and gain more clarity. This is not the place where you’re tempted to be lazy, it really invites you to work, lock in and do your best for your day.

I wonder if other places are like that but this is my productive haven. Back in the day, I found more inspiration from this place, I read great works in this place, and I learned how to write better from this place.

Honestly, I think the lighting and the color of the wall is the main point in this place. I mean, to replicate this place, that’s all it needs. When it comes to all the other accessories, it’s all just optional, though I have to say, their chair is so well-adjusted and perfect.

To this day,I am surprised that many digital nomads in the area sleep in this place. This is where one should go and has everything one needs, from good coffee, quietness and pretty decent WIFI. But most importantly, it’s the good chair and table that really supports work from a cafe environment.

Lately, I talk about the intersection between space and energy. While it seems woo woo shit and if you don’t believe it, there’s a lens you can look at which is through human-centered design.

These spaces are built based on what people need and serve to function properly. Many cafes aren’t really built on this principle. They only care about the profit and the table turnover but rarely about the comfort of its visitors. Sure, some visitors can sit for hours without buying more items but there are visitors that do. It's food for thought for sure especially if you’re building a house, a space to work from or simply a business establishment.

I wish I could transport this particular spot right into my home. Even if my current place is nice, this one is on another level. It makes you feel 100x more productive and inspires you. This is what a workplace should be, an inspiring space to be in that makes you always want to do the best in life.

With every great memory I have with this place, it’s a place that deserves my spot to be talked about again.

It really has a nice ambience inside, I think it helps too that there's not much people in there? And it's cool that you have that kind of place where you feel more productive. With that you can finish work much faster. And you don't even need to make your own coffee, they can just serve it for you.

Even with many people inside, it's still nice. I don't know but it really helps the color of the place isn't really bright. It's dim enough to help us become more productive.

Working from home is great, especially when we can create our own space, but there are places that inspire us even more, only they are difficult to find, so I'm glad you found yours. I understand what you mean, although I think few people make everything perfect. Of course, we have different cultures; here it's hard to find silence in public spaces, hahaha. It's a beautiful post, Mac. I wish you could take this place home with you, but you know it will always be available to you 🙏

I don't think human-based design is woo-woo, partially because I am a musician who has some understanding of acoustics, and partially because I live in a very windy city, and partially because sciatica is no fun, even with mild cases. My energy level is different if I have a comfortable seat, a place where random sound is not filtering in, and where I am not cold because of drafts!
