Revitalizing Tropical Living Spaces - Where Pets & Human Coexist

This time around, in another episode of Revitalizing Tropical Spaces, I’d love to share an inspiration that I got from a coffee shop that I frequent. I have an exactly similar sized room that I planned on transforming into this kind of space but it is for where humans and pets can coexist together. Obviously, it is a little smaller than this because it's intended for my cat and her children.

As a pet owner, I think it’s important to create a safe space for the pet to exist and live. I like my house clean and lately, we have 4 more kittens and the house is cramped up and a lot messier than I’d like to be.

My house is often the venue to host family functions and usually during times like that, the cats are often locked in their pet cage and I find them a little concerning. We do not let our cats leave the house and usually during family events and functions a lot of doors are open which usually my cats love running around and is a hassle for a lot of us to catch them.

Their room these days is a little messy this time around because we’re using them as a space to store our belongings. In the coming future, my mom & I decided to share some of our things and declutter the space. I got the AHA moment when I visited the cafe because the room is an extended version of another room. Unfortunately, in our case, the place they space is shared with the kitchen. I personally find it so unhealthy that the cats litter box and their pet cage & supplies are closer to the kitchen and the sink.

While these days they roam around the house, in the coming future, we want them to have a space where they can roam around and also a place to cool down during summer heat. Just like in this building, they have AC and some windows around it which lets some air come through.

I like how the spaces incorporate some chairs like that & I plan on doing the same. I think that incorporating some chairs to sit on will make it more comfortable for me and my family if they want to pet the cat. It’s probably going to take a bit of planning but once we’re cleaning the space, it would have been easier for us to picture how the space would be.

As you can also see below, from the main building, they have this glass window separator that I also like to incorporate to it.

Although my version would be a little smaller because we also need a space to store our bikes. I am sure with this type of space, my pets will love it more and it’d be easier for us to treat them when they have sickness because typically, we also need a space where they can be quarantined.

The above picture is also how the room looks from the inside area. To keep the place still tropical, I’d also incorporate plants that are non-toxic to cats and also plants that purify the air. As you know, sometimes having cats around will make the room smell a little strong.

In the coming future, I’d like to share the progress of this space because it’s one of my next projects especially after the roofing and the living room are done to be renovated.
