Retro Rexus KM10 Keyboard Review | Tech Monday

My very first retro keyboard!

Guilty as charged!

I thought I wouldn’t get another keyboard for at least a few years but look at me now! reviewing this keyboard from Rexus. KM10 is Rexus office line and was released about almost a year ago. It is now replaced with KM11, their newest line with dual tone color. I have been wanting to get a keyboard with these circular keycaps that feels more like a typewriter. In the market, this kind of keyboard is associated with retro look as it mimics a typewriter. This keyboard is the centerpiece of my desk and it’s why I love spending more time at my desk than going to a cafe. It looks really cute and aesthetic as well. You might have seen it a lot these days too, especially if you follow my Study With Me Videos as well as my desk update in the past.

When I was visiting the computer store, there were some mechanical compact keyboards ranging from logitech, to NYK.The store offers anything that starts from $10 to $70. They only offer some mid-high end keyboards and mostly from known companies like Rexus, Fantech, NYK, and logitech. To be honest, all I wanted was a circular round key cap and they put out everything they have including their logitech. But oh boy! they were around $40 and it was not something I really wanted to spend since for a keyboard, they’re mostly for home and typically, I don’t bring them to a cafe except during certain circumstances.

I will never go back!

If you have never tried a circular keyboard, you should do it at least once. It feels different from the rectangle ones and personally, I prefer this one. It feels easier for me to type and especially with KM10,they are properly spaced. Although some critics said that this keyboard isn’t compact and the placement is a little off, I beg to differ. I played some games with it just fine including Baldur Gate’s 3 and I have no problem with the movement and navigating it. I think it also better suited for my fingers too.

It comes in cute colors

If you’re building an aesthetic workspace, a circular typewriter look might do the job. KM 10 also comes in pastel and I regretted not buying them online because they have mint color and I am all about the shade of green. Although now, I wasn’t wrong going with black and white because they still match the overall aesthetic of my desk. I am definitely way past my RGB phase and would rather have pastel colors because it looks cleaner, classic and classy.

The aesthetic typewriter sound...

For someone who enjoys listening to the sound of a typewriter I think this one does the job so well. You can see it from the video I recorded that it has that clacky sound that I like. Maybe you love something more quiet and silent but this sound is just how I love it and matches the retro sound of what normally a typewriter would. It’s why it’s really not for public use since others might find the sound a little annoying but for me, it really does the job at home and the sound coming out of it is just so soothing.

The downside

So, after a week of use, I found some words are fading away. I am not sure why because it looks cheaply made with just stickers put on top of it. to replace the missing words on top of their caps, I use stickers. So, I guess it speaks to the price and shows the quality build. If you have over $70- $80 I would definitely recommend getting logitech more than this one. But if you have a lower end budget but still want to retain the aesthetic look of your desk, this one can be considered because of its price that is less than $30.

They promised on their product placement that it would have durable materials but oh well, after about a week of use, some of the words are already fading away. While I managed, I think it’s one of the things that you have to consider before getting this one. I am happy for now and it still works so I can’t complain much about this keyboard.

At the same time, this is a combo series, which means this product comes with a mouse. I am not a fan of combo products and this is why I don’t use the mouse. Ever since I use a decent mouse from Fantech, I certainly don’t think I would go back to a regular mouse without DPI configuration. It’s so much easier to play games and do stuff when I can adjust the speed of the mouse.

What a beautiful keyboard , yes it reminds to old Typewriters, I would like to have one, although the one I have is almost retro, not for it's aspect, but the old, and still works perfect. It's like from year 2000.

That's pretty old! You don't have to change when something is still working but when you need a newer replacement, you can definitely consider this one.
