CIV 6 Leader Hojo Tokimune 1 Hour Gameplay True Location on Earth | Mac's Gaming

Hey everyone!

I am back with my other gaming installment. This time, I managed to upload my Civ 6 gameplay. I played a bit of Black Dessert Online the other day but I forgot recording them & yesterday I was sick. So, that’s why today it’s Civ 6 time!

Feel fee to call me a noob but starting on the true location on earth as Hojo Tokimune isn’t easy.

Playing civ 6 even the online version can’t really be finished in an hour. As you can see on the video, I got to only 112 turns per 250 turns. But if you don’t know about this game, let me give you a little background. This game is a strategy game and I have spent 116 hours gameplay by now. I played quite sparely and not as often as BDO or Tomb Raider. Since I am only allowing myself to play an hour at a time, it’s why my number seems like a rookie one.

Anyway, in this game what makes it intriguing and challenging is that you can also customize the game and especially the starting location. As someone who loves history, I wanted to do it exactly how it would like in the past.

I guess... it was a mistake?

The setting of the true location of japan is located on a tiny hexagon reflecting that Japan is also an archipelago country. Compared to those who started on dessert or even rain forest, growing the hexagon is a lot harder especially when there are already surrounding neighborhood such as Korea on the northeast, then Bandar Brunai on the southern part and sometimes India on the most southern part of the map. Afterall, what you see on map, for example google map reflected the location.

So, what did you do?

I made a little bit of mistake on the researching front and hiring the units. What I would do differently is focusing on ranged attack because there are barbarian galleys as well as more on naval units rather than ground unit. Then as soon as the research that allows all units to embark finished, train settlers and search for a place to settle on ground, preferably somewhere closer.

Interestingly, I settled below Korea while I should have been settling above it too. But I guess, it’s not that bad considering there are spaces that I can occupy later on. What irked me is that there was India settling too nearby and they are also spreading their religion everywhere faster.

What victory should you try to seek?

While japan is known to be versatile, personally for me seeking religious victory is a lot faster than say, the chinese or other civilization. So, the victory that you should aim certainly lies on how you set the perks of the religion. But I have to say, they are not as difficult as any other civilization to start.

If you want a guaranteed win, I would suggest starting with Germany and you can win a lot faster and have stronger units/army than if you were playing other civilization.

There are a few leaders that I have tried but Hojo Tokimune isn’t the worst leader to play. It has its own challenge especially when you set the location like I did but if you set it in another location, it might have turned out quite differently.

Anyhow, see you on my next civ6 installment with different leaders and their perks!

Hōjō Tokimune! Now that's a character choice I don't think we've ever seen in a game before. Very interesting. He was a fairly important figure, though, so I'm glad to hear the game features him instead of the usually Ieyasu/Hideyoshi/Nobunaga.

I haven't played a Civ game since Civ 3 back in the day. More than any other game, that was the one that every single time I sat down to play it, I would almost instantly lose hours of my life. I don't know if I'm brave enough to play any of the modern versions.

I was reading about him and looks like he was reigning with iron fist. The game also features him saying this " Hello, I am Hojo Tokimune of Japan, a humble disciple of Bushido. " I love playing as Japan other than China as it's always a challenging game. Maybe you can pick it up again haha although there's a meme saying "one more turn" which is kinda true. This is why I only play 250 turns rather than 500 turns that I tried and was taking more than 9 hours of my time.

Nice! Watching the video of this game reminded me of my childhood too. I used to play a similar game, Stronghold Crusader.
