Après la pluie

The season that I am waiting for is finally here.

It’s oddly late for rain to come in January but it’s better than not having it at all. It’s that kind of awaited rain after prolonged drought. Though now it feels like spring scarce rain and some flowers withered but it gives a chance for other flowers to bloom.

Some of them are really pretty to look at and motivates me to tend my balcony again.While I know I might not be too long in one place but seeing how pretty flowers can be makes me want to finally settle down. ‘ Is it too late?’ ‘Maybe not, maybe it’s only the beginning’.

While capturing these flowers, I was reminded of a song, quand la pluie tombe by nymano. It’s melodic and captures the feel when the rain falls just as the title. I remember writing a freewrite based on that same idea, when the rain falls. I can’t believe it was 6 years ago. Today my title means after the rain and I’d love to write about it.

There's a certain aroma evoked from after the rain. It can be annoying to some but fascinating to some. I think just referring to what I wrote 6 years ago, I thought about after rain as the process of letting go of what rain brought, in this case, memories.

Memories might leave some peculiar smell too. You can love or hate it but it’s there. And just as you see on those pictures, there are rain drops all over the leaves but as soon as the sun shines, they’ll dry up, leaving only fresh pretty flower to look at.
