A Season Of Bloom For Tabebuia Rosea
Late August to early September is the start of the dry season where I live. During this day, the wind blows quite strongly and the temperature starts to rise. It’s mostly a good day when you can explore and have some adventure all around the country. A lot of flowers also bloom at this time marking that it’s time for something new, a little hope before the rainy season starts again.
When I grew up, I didn’t recall we had Tabebuia rosea. It wasn’t the flower that grows and only these past 10 years, it is dubbed as the Indonesian’s cherry blossoms. But this flower is entirely different. It just has striking similarity to the ones that you see in Japan, the color and how it beautifully falls.
There will be a huge collection of this picture in this post. Honestly, it's hard for me to pick but I'll let you be the judge.
There are many spots in my city that have this tree growing tall and blooming. For a lot of us, we take this for granted, failing to see the beauty it offers. It sort of just there and even creates some annoyance to the residents who have to clean up the falling petals.
Hunting pictures of this blooming flower that only blooms once a year, I went through my entire city's main street to the public square.
That day, the public square was empty. People were expecting some type of protest to happen but instead, I only saw a couple of people lounging around the benches and a young family with their family taking pictures below the tabebuia rosea tree.
I eventually offered to help them capture the memories because I saw them taking turns in taking pictures. Now, they all could be in the same frame.
Somehow, at that same moment, I had a lot of thoughts about the state and current affairs of my country. This tree and the young family, looks like a symbol of hope. And one truth that stands out to me, everyone deserves a future that’s secure.
That simple encounter with them really made my day.
Having to walk around with my camera, sometimes I feel like my shyness disappeared. It’s like stepping out of my comfort zone and in a good way. More often than not, I get to meet nice people and had some nice conversation in between. Although in recent years, carrying a camera is a little frowned upon as people over here are a bit touchy on their personal image and even in public places.
Sometimes you have to pay to just take pictures of buildings or even establishments or you need a written permission. With such complication, I tend to take pictures of nature, just to be safe.
I walked home remembering that happiness can be quite simple.I just haven't had the time to go out with my camera that often anymore which made me forget these things. That through simple and small things in life, some of us can find that satisfaction and happiness.
I am glad that I picked up my camera again. Although unlike before that I tend to take pictures just for the sake of it, these days I am trying to be a lot more intentional about it.
So, what’s your small but definite happiness lately?

Beautiful bloomy flowers 😊
But it really looks like a cherry blossom, its so pretty, especially if it's the whole tree. It us so pretty pink, its cool you gave this at your country. Its bright color give life to its surrounding. 😲😍
It's so important to see pieces of hope, no matter the season! And these flowers surely represent that!
We're having mass unrest everywhere but these flowers just blooms so beautifully all around the place. It's definitely a reminder that there could be hope.
These flowers, and your writing about hope, are both beautiful.
Thank you so much dee, it's been such a difficult week for many of us but I am reminded that there's still hope.
Still hope ... hang on to that ...

We have a similar tree here in Cotacachi, it blossoms wonder- and fully. It's called Arupo (Chionanthus pubescent), and there is a beautiful one in the main park. Next time I see it blossom, I'll take a picture for you, because I think it is indeed very similar. But that could my mind playing tricks on me.
I'm happy to read that you find that pleasure in going out and taking pictures again. I'm insinuating to my brother that he should bring his camera next time he comes, and stash it with me, as he's not using it at all and Ecuador is full of great motives.
This one tree is actually native to Mexico and the Carribean. I am not sure how it gets here but I am sure it was brought a long time ago hehe. If you find something similar to it, please don't forget to tag me. It's going to be so cool to see it also in another parts of the world.
If you can convince your brother to bring the camera, it's gong to be another experience to him to see Ecuador through a camera lens. For me, seeing the world through the camera feels fascinating.
Yeah, him bringing the camera is more for me - but he can use it while he's here 🤣 The more I see those pictures of you and other people, the more I want to be technically able to take better pictures. My cellphone is outdated that way, especially the zoom doesn't work. I have to upgrade one of these years, maybe the next generation of cellphone does it better - if my brotherly manipulation plan falls through.
This was such a lovely read Macc.
The way you tied the bloom of the Tabebuia rosea to both hope and the simple joys of everyday life really stuck with me.
I can’t lie those trees are stunning. No wonder they’re called Indonesia’s cherry blossoms. Whenever I see them in Korean dramas, I’m always amazed.
I like how your photography isn’t just about pictures but about the connections you make along the way (like with that family).
Anyway, my small but definite happiness lately has been slowing down enough to enjoy little rituals, like cooking at home after weeks of eating out. You know it’s actually amazing how grounding the simple things can be.
This has the same vibe as those in K-drama haha I guess that's why the family was trying to take pictures underneath it. They want to recreate that vibe haha. You don't have to do anything big to actually be happy sometimes. For me, it becomes a lot clearer these days hehe.
It does :)
I’ve learned a lot from you these few days and to be honest, despite the circumstances, I smile through it all.
Thank you for always putting out positive contents.❤️
