PhotoFeed Contest - Street photography - Wait for the moment

I took this photo from the terrace of Istanbul Modern Art Museum. Before leaving the building for a lunch, which I also shared some more photographs in my recent post, I was a bit in the mood of FOMO :) Since it was a cloudy day, I was more focused on interesting geometry compositions rather than light/shadow blends. Then I saw the crossed handrails in front of me, and I imagined someone walks exactly in the center of this intersection. The idea was exciting then.

So I waited.

Many people passed, but not in the perfect position. Some were too close, some too far. Also I needed a single character not a group of people. Then, I saw this person walking alone. I knew this could be the shot.

The person was walking slowly, checking the phone. I prepared my camera. Since I didn't want to miss the shot, I set the focus in manual mode and at the right moment, I clicked the shutter. With the help of burst shooting the framing worked just as I imagined. The crossed handrails created a layered effect, making the scene feel more dynamic. The photo has depth, contrast, and a strong visual structure.

Later, when editing, I adjusted the color of the jacket to match the text banner in the background. It was a small change but made the composition stronger. I think what captures the moment is the patience of observing, anticipation and finally waiting. I knew the the story was out there, my task was to get in sync with it.
