avatar

Hi all,

Introduction

Another post in this series. Thank you for your support in the previous posts 😊

This series intends to determine if there are other aspects of cards that may contribute to increasing its value. Based on your feedback I can focus on more/other things – so feel free to tell me where you want me to go into further detail.
I include some analysis on where the cards fit in terms of gameplay, strategy, comparison with other cards, and a market analysis of its price. Feel free to suggest what more do you want me to look into in this series, and your support is much appreciated!
In this edition I will be looking at the Undead Badger.

Gameplay Analysis

Undead Badger is a Common Death Monster from the Untamed set in Splinterlands. It is a low-mana Sneak attacker that provides a budget-friendly way to pressure enemy backlines. While it lacks additional abilities at higher levels, its low cost, decent speed, and consistent damage make it a staple in many Death Splinter strategies.

Mana Cost: 2
Attack Type: Melee
Abilities by Level
Level 1: Sneak (Targets the enemy’s backline Monster instead of the frontline, making it an effective assassin)

Level-Based Insights

Level 1-10: Undead Badger remains a simple yet effective Sneak attacker. It scales in attack and speed, making it more reliable at higher levels, but does not gain any new abilities.

Comparative Analysis

How does this card compare to other similar ones?

Vs. Silent Sha-Vi: Silent Sha-Vi has higher attack and health but costs 1 more mana, making it more powerful but less efficient in low-mana battles.
Vs. Elven Cutthroat: Elven Cutthroat has lower speed and damage scaling, making Badger the superior long-term choice.
Vs. Uraeus: Uraeus has Poison at higher levels, giving it a stronger long-term impact, but Undead Badger is cheaper and easier to fit into low-mana matches.

Key Takeaway
Undead Badger is a cost-efficient backline assassin that provides consistent Sneak pressure in Death Splinter lineups. While it does not gain additional abilities, its improved stats at higher levels make it a solid pick for Sneak-based strategies.

Synergies

Contessa L’ament (Death Summoner): Reduces enemy Ranged Attack, helping Undead Badger survive longer.
Thaddius Brood: Weakens enemy Magic damage, protecting Badger from its biggest weakness.
Cursed Windeku: Pairs well in Sneak-based strategies, as Windeku can tank frontline hits while Badger targets the backline.
Dark Ha’on: A strong tank with Taunt that forces enemies to ignore Badger while it deals damage.

Ruleset Performance

Favorable Rulesets:
Melee Mayhem: Allows Undead Badger to attack from any position, making it more flexible.
Equal Opportunity: High speed lets it strike early, securing eliminations before enemies can retaliate.
Little League: Its 2-mana cost makes it a top pick in low-mana battles.

Challenging Rulesets:
Reverse Speed: Badger’s high Speed becomes a disadvantage, making it attack last.
Thorns: Since it relies on Melee attacks, it takes damage when hitting Thorns users.
Fog of War: Removes Sneak, neutralizing Badger’s biggest advantage.

Market Analysis

Price Overview
Regular Foil: around $ 0.06
Gold Foil: around $ 0.7

Investment Potential
Undead Badger is a cheap and effective Sneak attacker, ideal for budget players. While it lacks additional abilities at higher levels, its strong attack scaling and high Speed keep it relevant.

Ratings

Usefulness: 7/10 (A solid low-mana Sneak attacker, but lacks abilities at higher levels)
Cost-Effectiveness: 9/10 (Very affordable and useful in low-mana battles)
Versatility: 6/10 (Strong in Sneak strategies but struggles outside of them)

Conclusion

Undead Badger is a fast and affordable Sneak attacker that provides consistent backline pressure. While it lacks additional abilities at higher levels, its strong scaling makes it a valuable asset in Death Splinter Sneak-based strategies.
