Visiting "The Sea Museum" in Venezuela - Cumaná 🇻🇪 || Marine Species Area 🐳 ⚓
To speak of the Museum of the Sea in the city of Cumaná is to speak of cultural tradition, since this place, since its inauguration at the first site of the old airport in 1984, and subsequent reopening at its current location in the Luis Manuel Peñalver Cultural Complex in 1984, it has been a reference point for scholars of marine life, as well as a tourist attraction for young and old who visit this wonderful and amazing museum. I remember visiting it with my parents as a child and being fascinated by all the species of the sea on display, as well as the aquarium area, which was the one that caught my attention the most. This was precisely the one I liked the most when I visited with my son on a school trip a week ago.
Hablar del Museo del Mar en la ciudad de Cumaná, es hablar de tradición cultural, ya que este lugar desde su inauguración en la primera sede del aéreo puerto viejo en 1984, y posterior reinauguración en la sede actual ubicada en el Complejo Cultural Luis Manuel Peñalver en 1984, ha sido un referente para los estudiosos de la vida marina, así como también un atractivo turístico para pequeños y grandes que visitan este maravilloso y asombroso museo; recuerdo que de niña lo visitaba con mis padres y quedaba fascinada con todas las especies del mar que tenían exhibidas, así como el área de los acuarios que era la que más me llamaba la atención, siendo esta precisamente la que más me gusto, cuando estuve de visita con mi hijo en un paseo escolar hace una semana.

The museum has several rooms, and today I am showing you some of them. The guide who attended to us explained in a very educational way a little about the appeal of each room, adapted to the level of the children who were visiting the museum, starting with the Mollusk Room, where the collection of crustaceans, such as crabs, crayfish, lobsters, prawns, and shrimp, among others, stands out; the coral room, the seabed room with aquariums, the fishing gear room, and the model ship room.
El museo cuenta con varias salas, y hoy les estoy mostrando algunas de ellas, la guía que nos atendió nos explicó de manera muy didáctica un poco sobre el atractivo de cada sala, adaptado al nivel de los niños que estaban visitando el museo, pasando en primer lugar a la sala de Moluscos, donde se destacan la colección de crustáceos, como cangrejos, jaibas, langostas, langostinos, camarones, entre otros; la sala de corales, la sala de fondos marinos que son los acuarios, la sala de artes de pesca y la sala de barcos a escala.

When entering the underwater world room, we must make as little noise as possible so as not to disturb the fish that inhabit the various aquariums, these being the only living specimens found in this museum. It is amazing to see the beauty of these fish swimming freely in each of the aquariums on display here. Their colors, shapes, and speed capture your attention, and it is easy to remain contemplating the perfection of nature, as the atmosphere is extremely relaxing.
Al momento de entrar a la sala de fondos marino debemos hacer el menor ruido posible para no perturbar a los peces que habitan en los diversos acuarios, siendo éstos los únicos especímenes vivos que se encuentran en este museo; es asombroso ver la belleza de estos peces que nadan libremente por cada uno de los acuarios que aquí se exhiben, su colorido, forma y rapidez captan tu atención y es fácil quedarse contemplando la perfección de la naturaleza, ya que el ambiente que se respira es sumamente relajante.

Next to this room, we can see scale models of boats that have been part of maritime history, notably the oceanographic vessel Meteor. However, the most outstanding piece in this museum is the coelacanth fish, which is the only living fossil from prehistoric times that was believed to be extinct until its existence was discovered in the Indian Ocean.
Junto a esta sala podemos apreciar embarcaciones hechas a escalas de botes que han formado parte de la historia marina, resaltando el Buque oceanográfico Meteor; pero la pieza que más se destaca en este museo siendo la principal es el pez Celacanto, el cual es el único fósil viviente, de la época de la prehistoria que se creía extinto, hasta que se descubrió su existencia en el Océano Indico.

Este Museo perteneciente a la Universidad de Oriente, es vital para conocer, estudiar, investigar y difundir a los visitantes locales y foráneos el increíble mundo marino, a través de sus visitas guiadas de mano de su equipo de profesionales que sirven de guías, dejándonos claro que el mar es un territorio que aún nos falta mucho por descubrir, hasta una nueva oportunidad.
