Feliz fin de semana queridos cinéfilos, hoy les traigo mi opinión de la nueva versión de la película “La Mano que Mece la Cuna”, dirigida por Michelle Garza Cevera, que recién se estrenó a finales del 2025, este film protagonizado por Mary Elizabeth Winstead y Maika Monroe, son quienes traen de vuelta la historia de Curtis Hanson que estoy segura que pudimos ver en 1992 sobre una niñera perturbada que irrumpe la vida de una familia que recién tiene un bebe. Este thriller de suspenso y terror en su nueva versión me sorprendió gratamente.

This film stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Claire Morales) and Maika Monroe (Polly), who bring back Curtis Hanson's story, which I'm sure we all saw in 1992, about a disturbed nanny who disrupts the life of a family that has just had a baby. I was pleasantly surprised by this new version of the suspenseful horror thriller.
Para los que no han visto esta historia la trama trata sobre una familia con niños que contrata a una niñera aparentemente perfecta. Mary Winstead en su rol de Claire Morales, es la típica madre ocupada que tiene que lidiar incluso con su depresión post parto, mientras conoce a Polly y esta le resulta de gran ayuda cuando se ofrece a cuidar a sus hijos, siendo este el inicio de una pesadilla que está por descubrir Claire, cuando su vida empiece a cambiar Polly interferirá en su relación de pareja y con sus hijos, queriendo desplazarla de sus propia casa.
For those who haven't seen this story, the plot is about a family with children who hire a seemingly perfect nanny. Mary Winstead, in her role as Claire Morales, is the typical busy mother who has to deal with postpartum depression, among other things, when she meets Polly, who proves to be a great help when she offers to take care of her children. This is the beginning of a nightmare that Claire is about to discover. When her life begins to change, Polly interferes in her relationship with her partner and her children, wanting to displace her from her own home.
A pesar que Claire le confía a su niñera lo más preciado que tiene, en el fondo guardara una aptitud recelosa, pudiendo ver a tiempo las señales que la alertara sobre esta chica, la cual esconde un pasado lleno de tragedias que sin saber la involucra a ella; veremos escenas fuertes con alto contenido violento, convirtiéndola definitivamente en una película para adultos.
Although Claire entrusts her nanny with her most precious possession, deep down she harbors a sense of suspicion, and is able to spot the warning signs about this girl, who hides a past full of tragedies that unwittingly involve her. We see powerful scenes with high levels of violence, making this definitely a film for adults.
Lo que más resalta en esta cinta es la forma magistral en que se logra mantener el suspenso a la audiencia en toda la película, me gustó mucho la actuación de Maika Monroe en su rol de Polly la niñera, con solo su presencia nos pone a todos de los nervios, tal como lo hacía la malvada Rebecca de Mornay hace unas décadas atrás en la primera entrega de esta historia; aunque hay aspectos que pudieron mejorar en cuanto a las actuaciones de Raúl Castillo en su rol de *Miguel Morales esposo de Claire no se trasmite esa química entre ellos, se percibe a Claire apartada de él, teniendo que llevar sola el peso de las sospechas, siendo su mejor amigo Stewart (Martin Starr) el único que la apoya y el que se lleva la peor parte.
What stands out most in this film is the masterful way in which it manages to keep the audience in suspense throughout. I really liked Maika Monroe's performance in her role as Polly the nanny. Just her presence alone makes us all nervous, just as the evil Rebecca de Mornay did decades ago in the first installment of this story. Although there are aspects that could be improved, such as Raúl Castillo's performance as Miguel Morales, Claire's husband, there is no chemistry between them. Claire seems distant from him, having to bear the weight of suspicion alone, with her best friend Stewart (Martin Starr) being the only one who supports her and who bears the brunt of it.
