The lost Neon art

As Hong Kong gets more modernized, Neon Signs, which were part of what made Hong Kong unique is slowly disappearing. Replaced with LED lights instead.

DX DESIGN HUB

On the second floor of this building, there is a whole section dedicated to the Neon Signs of Hong Kong.

The neon signs were one of the most famous features of visiting Hong Kong. These signs were all handcrafted by skilled craftsmen.

There are not many left today. All that remains are the Neon Signboards that will one day be removed and replaced with LED lights.

This was what Hong Kong used to look like in the 90s. This time, I was there, and I did not see many of these signs.

The signboard of Tai Ping Koon Restaurant. This signboard is handcrafted by a glassmaker.

This signboard belongs to a popular restaurant chain in Hong Kong that still exists today, except that they have changed most of their signboards to LED ones.

GOLDEN PHOENIX GRILL RESTAURANT

A nowl of noodles that looks 3D. This is amazing to look at upclose.

The best thing about this gallery is that everything here is free. I did not pay a single cent except for the train tickets to come here.

The red taxi

The famous red taxis of Hong Kong. These are still available in Hong Kong. Most taxis in Malaysia have already gone out of service.

My wife is in the red taxi. The iconic ride throughout Hong Kong.

The disco area is quite special, and you can feel like a movie star standing in this particular area with all those LED lights around.

The Akita House signboard. One of the older hardware shops that also sells electronics in Hong Kong.

The highest floor is one of the places where you can check out the latest designs by modern artists. Not sure if that is the term for it or contemporary art.

This next artist is a product artist. She creates a lot of art for companies.

These days, customers are attracted to products that are aesthetically pleasing to look at. The first glance at whether you would want to buy the product depends on whether that particular thing is well-designed or not.

They also have this room where you can enter and watch the craftsmanship of the Neon Signboards of Hong Kong.

Have a wonderful day ahead. It was a great exhibit looking at everything that makes Hong Kong what it is today.

Thank you very much.
