Hiking at Canada Hill

Morning all my friends,

Today, I am going to bring you to one of my favourite hiking spots here in Miri. This hill is quite popular here in Miri city.

Before coming here for a hike, you need to bring some mosquito repellent, wear a pair of hiking trail shoes, water and many more. Some of the trails here are quite challenging. The forest here is steep.

This hill is just around the city. So if you do come to Miri and want to get some challenges, you can come here. There is no entrance fee and you can come at anytime. There are people who come here for ghost hunting too.

After parking at the mainroad, you can choose a lot of trail entrances into the different trails. Some are easy, some are not.

A downward descending path. Despite being able to run down here, I do not think it is advisable at all. Long term running down trails can get our knees injured.

Thick dense jungle. Borneo island lies on the equator so it is bound to get lots of rain and sun. I think the jungles here are similar to the amazon jungle. The trees here are densely packed and you the same so you won’t be able to tell the difference between tree to tree if you ever get lost inside here. It is also a very scary place to be if you come here at night.

An area where soil erosion occurred. The whole slope came doen due to the rain a couple of months ago that was too heavy.

My wife resting here. There are many rest stops here along the trails. In case you feel tired and want some rest, you can rest here along the stops. There are many shortcuts here too head out if you need to.

You can come here at any time of the day. The weather is cool even when it is hot.

This hill is around 200 meters above ground so standing here, you can see the whole of Miri City. The best stop to be at when evening comes just to see what the whole city looks like as it transitions to night.

There are some easy trails and some are quite challenging. You can choose your difficulty. Some trails here are very steep and requires core strength.

I hiked for around an hour before heading back out to the main car park area.
