Ethnic food here in Miri, Sarawak
Good Morning.. How has your Saturday been? It has been great and tiring at the same time. It is the weekend. The happiest time of the week. I recently went to a restaurant that serves authentic Sarawakian food here in Miri.
One of the highlights of this restaurant is its colourful drinks.
It is called the
BLUE PEA MILK TEA
The blue colour from this tea comes from natural ingredients from the Blue Pea flowers.
This is the menu for the drinks. It is not too expensive, but somehow it also costs the same as a plate of rice.

The tables here at this restaurant come from natural wood. The best type of material for a table.

BLUE PEA MILK TEA
This is a Sarawakian drink that is quite rare, and not all Malaysian restaurants have this. Have you seen such a drink before? It has three layers with the palm sugar at the bottom, followed by milk and the blue colour from the blue pea mixed with tea.

The design in the restaurant is quite unique. This restaurant is called
FLAVO Restaurant
There are many traditional crafts displayed on the walls of the restaurant. This restaurant has that more darker theme, giving you a more dinner vibe. I went here during the day for lunch. But, it looks like it's evening time for dinner in the restaurant.
The whole restaurant seems to have been well thought out, with everything matching the ethic theme of Sarawak. The floors are also laminated with a darker shade of wood.
Sarawakians are patriotic. Most shops are decorated with lots of Sarawakian flags. The three colours of Sarawak are red, yellow, and black.
The Beef Nasi Lemak
The beef is cooked in the traditional native way. There are peanuts and cucumbers here too.
The best thing to do is to mix everything first before eating. The sauce is the best part of this dish.

In the evening, I had Chinese food at a Chinese restaurant here in Miri.
The first dish is a sea cucumber soup.
Evening was coming. So, it was time for us to just have a meal at a Chinese Restaurant here in Miri.
This soup is thick and flavourful. The thickness of the soup comes from the tapioca starch. It is usually the best to consume before it gets cold to have it still in it's thick viscosity.
A lot of families are eating here too.
My wife and my sis in law. We were all excited to eat dinner.

Ordered a cup of 3-layered milk tea. This is a type of drink that is worth to try.
This is in contrast with the blue pea milk tea earlier in the post.
Then the next dish is also one of my favourites. The bitter guord that is stir fried with century egg.
One of the best dishes at any Chinese Restaurant.

Bittergourd is usually bitter, but once it is stir-fried in this dish, it mixes everything into one, reducing the bitterness and instead making the bitter gourd soft. The eggs blend in well. The fire that heats up the wok to stir fry at places like this has to be huge to have it taste better.
That was how my eating journey was. I love eating ,and I eat whenever I can. hahahaa.
Have a wonderful day ahead.
