Emart - A very popular place to shop

Have you seen jackfruits of this size before?

I was walking around Emart here in Miri and noticed these jackfruits. They are gigantic. I did not buy it eventhough I was tempted to do it. Maybe, those Jackfruits were meant for dinosaurs.

Some Petais

I am not sure how these are eaten but the locals here do eat them. You have to break open the pods and eat what is inside. Pea shaped beans.

Today, I am bringing you on a tour around Emart here in Miri. This place is huge. It has a supermarket, a wet market, lots of eateries, lots of shops and many more. It is a mix of everything you need and want.

Emart

This area has a unique history. The whole area used to be grassland and there wasn’t anything here. Then, they started setting up a warehouse in the middle of nowhere. This warehouse was ininitially owned by another company that was bought up by Emart.

Twenty years later, they have been quite successful and now Emart is all over Sarawak . This is a Sarawakian company caterred to the locals. Usually , Emart is quite popular to Bruneians too.

Along this pathway, there are lots of lanterns that hang at the top of the ceiling too.

The parking area of Emart

This whole area now looks like a city of its own. This used to be nothing. There is about a couple of hundred car parks around this area.

Your friendly hair saloon. The Angelina Unisex saloon.

The price of cutting hair here is not too high too. Quite affordable.

The CNY display section complete with the stage. Maybe some performances are going to take place here.

Veggies seller

There are lots of veggie sellers here who have their own farms and thet sell their produce here at this market. The veggies are usually fresh and affordable.

Some mandarin oranges. These are usually imported from China. The weather here does not favour the growth of oranges.

A fish stall

This stall sells fish. Usually fresh from the South China Sea by the fishermen. Seafood is quite expensive in Miri. So usually, I don’t buy much seafood.

Hope you enjoy reading this post.

I'm so amazed by seeing your photos! plenty of different kinds of fruit, has giant jackfruit. I remember last time when i lived with my grandparents, they have the same thing as you posted. So big! and you know they are too heavy too. The smell makes you hungry. delicious.

It looks like the market has everything you needed. And that jackfruit was way too big compared to what I have seen in my life!
