My Shade To Shadow Hunters Community SMASh Contest- Round 407

Hola, comunidad, está es mi primera publicación para Shadow Hunters en este 2026. Me presento con unas sombras que cacé ayer, martes 6 de enero, "Día de la Epifanía (Manifestación) del Señor", más conocido como "Día de Reyes". Es la última Misa en que se cantan aguinaldos y con la que se concluye la época navideña.

Aunque, por lo menos acá en Venezuela, muchos consideran que la Navidad concluye el 2 de febrero, el Día de la Vírgen de la Candelaria, fecha en en la cultura y religiosidad popular se realiza la Paradura del Niño.

Hello everyone, this is my first post for Shadow Hunters in 2026. I'm introducing myself with some Shadows I hunted yesterday, Tuesday, January 6th, "Epiphany (Manifestation) of the Lord," also known as "Three Kings Day." It's the last Mass where Christmas carols are sung, marking the end of the Christmas season.

Although, at least here in Venezuela, many consider that Christmas ends on February 2nd, the Day of the Virgin of Candelaria, a date on which the Paradura del Niño takes place in popular culture and religiosity.

Estas sombras son las de la escalera de la iglesia Nuestra Señora de Las Mercedes, en Villa de Cura, estado Aragua, Venezuela.

Estás escaleras comunican la planta baja de la iglesia con una mezzanina donde se ubica el parroquial "Shalom" para cantar durante la Misa. Canto que ayer fue de aguinaldos, acompañados por el cuatro venezolano (tocado por mi mamá @sayury), maracas (tocadas por @elioe, catequista), tambor (tocado por @carmenrivas) y la pandereta (tocada por @hermaryrc)

These stairs connect the church's ground floor to a mezzanine where the parish choir, "Shalom," sings during Mass. Yesterday's choir sang Christmas carols, accompanied by the Venezuelan cuatro (played by my mother, @sayury), maracas (played by @elioe, a catechist), a drum (played by @carmenrivas), and a tambourine (played by @hermaryrc).

Me gustaron mucho estas sombras que combinam lineas y barras rectas unas de orientación horizontal, otras de orientación vertical y otras en sentido oblicuo.

Aparte de ello, el contraste con el pedacito que se ve de @carmenrivas descendiendo es estupendo. Espero que a ustedes también les gusten estas sombras.

I really liked these shadows that combine straight lines and bars, some horizontal, some vertical, and some diagonal.

Besides that, the contrast with the glimpse of @carmenrivas descending is fantastic. I hope you like these shadows too.

Cómo notas anecdóticas tengo dos: una buena y una mala. La buena es que, estando nuestro párroco en mitad de la homilía entraron en la iglesia los Tres Reyes Magos.

En su recorrido llevando alegría a los niños de Villa de Cura hicieron un alto al pasar frente a la iglesia y entraron.

El monaguillo les indicó que subieran y se sentaran en unas sillas laterales cerca del altar y luego de un ratito siguieron su camino. No andaban en camellos ni en dromedarios 🐪🐪🐪 sino en un camión, el mismo con que recorren año tras año las calles de Villa de Cura llevando caramelos a los niños.

La anécdota mala es que @carmenrivas tuvo qué tocar con una caja de.madera, hasta que @orlandobello prestó su tambor, porque los dos tambores de la iglesia desaparecieron, una persona inescrupulosa se los robó.

I have two anecdotes to share: one good and one bad. The good one is that, while our parish priest was in the middle of his homily, the Three Wise Men entered the church.

On their journey bringing joy to the children of Villa de Cura, they stopped as they passed in front of the church and went inside.

The altar boy told them to get in and sit on some chairs near the altar, and after a little while, they continued on their way. They weren't riding camels or dromedaries 🐪🐪🐪 but in a truck, the same one they use year after year to travel the streets of Villa de Cura bringing candy to the children.

The bad anecdote is that @carmenrivas had to play with a wooden box until @orlandobello lent her his drum, because both of the church's drums disappeared; an unscrupulous person stole them.
