Photos, Stories And Memories — Hive For Bangladesh Photography.
Happy Saturday. Hope you are having an enjoyable weekend.
Welcome back to my blog and to #hiveBangladesh photography contest. It's actually the maiden edition of the contest, and I'm excited to participate. You too can. Simply follow this link to read the contest rules.
Here are 5 interesting photos I'd like to share with you, as part of the contest. Hope you'll like them.

As you can see, this photo shows cars, but not just any cars - they're customized vehicles for a driving school - Perfect Driving School, located at Azikiwe Road, before New Era Hospital, Aba.
The school is strategically located, just by Azikiwe by East Road, which is a bus stop where I usually catch my ride home. One day, while waiting for a ride, I took the photo. The color of the cars - turquoise plus the red and white used to inscribe the details of the school, made them an eye catcher.

This building in the photo is one of the oldest hotels in my city, Aba. It was formerly Nicons Hotel but later changed to Ariss Plaza Hotel, when the founder passed away. The hotel is located at Compost Road, Ogbor Hill, Aba, and was amongst the hottest spots way back then.
I can recall that while growing up, Sunday evening were always lively. Coming back from benediction at the church, I'd find the environment buzzing with activities and loud music blasting from the speakers.
Sometimes, I'd see ladies dressed up in a rough, flashy style, parading themselves around the area. And as for fights? Oh, they were a constant occurrence. In my child's eyes, it was all just excitement and noise. But now, looking back, I understand the reality behind the scenes.
Despite the name change and reconstruction that have been done on the hotel over the years, the old signage of 'Nicons Hotel' is still visible on the building structure, as a way of preserving the memory of the hotel's founder, and preserving the family's heritage.

This photo is that of a school environment - Wilcox Schools, formerly Wilcox Memorial Comprehensive Secondary School, located along Ikot-Ekpene Road, Ogbor Hill, Aba.
Prior to its name change, Wilcox Memorial Comprehensive Secondary School was an all-boys secondary school, also known as a high school in other countries. However, it has since expanded to include both primary and secondary education, with boarding facilities too, just as it was in the past.

Tifany is one of the many fast food restaurants in my city. It is situated along Ikot Ekpene Road, by Ukaegbu junction, just opposite Wilcox Schools.
Tiffany Fast Food shares a boundary with Godian Religion Church Headquarters, Aba.
This newly established eatery offers a diverse range of meals, snacks, and beverages, making it a beautiful spot for a family outing or casual gathering.
I've visited there a couple of times and their service and delicious meals.

This is Obikabia Junction, Ogbor Hill, Aba, a busy and popular site in my city.
This junction connects about five roads - Ukaegbu road, Umuola road, Obikabia / Umukalika road, New Umuahia Road, and Federal School Road. The landmark at this junction is D'Oak sports bar and lounge ltd.
The conspicuous statue at the water fountain is of Late Paul O. Ururuka, a former Minister of Works in the Old Eastern Region of Nigeria. The statue was erected to immortalize him, as a way of remembering his selfless and remarkable service in bringing infrastructural development to the people of Aba Ngwa.
That's a wrap. Thank you for reading.
