Passion For A Better Future! - W/E Wk 53

Witnessing the dawn of a new day is something I'm always grateful for because not many people have the privilege of doing so. It reminds me that it's another day to do exploits, to take one more step towards achieving my goals, and with that I'm motivated to get off the bed and go squash the tasks ahead of me. Sometimes I win, other times I lose, that is life. It's not always a win-win situation. But you know, we always wish to win, lol.

Talking about winning, It has always been my utmost desire to defeat this dependent lifestyle, lol. I am not saying that I won't accept other's contributions in my life, no, but it won't be such that if they don't provide, I won't have my needs taken care of, no that's an error. It was the desire that drove me to start to make my own money right from my teen age, hehehe. It wasn't that my parents weren't providing all that I needed at that age, but I just wanted to have my own money. They weren't against it, Infact it was mom that was buying the groundnuts and biscuits I sold in school for me. Yes, I sold fried groundnut and one popular biscuit then called Olympic in high school.

The business was moving as some students will even pay upfront so they don't miss eating my delicious groundnut, hehehe. At some point I added kuli kuli, groundnut cake and tiger nut. I was a confirmed business tycoon then, lol.
After school, I and my friend would go to farmlands, cut waterleaf and supply to one rich family then. They always cooked as if a party was imminent. Sometimes, I will carry the waterleaf to one small market just by the main road to sell. The proceeds from all these hustles were judiciously used, don't ask me where, hehehe.
Fast forward to today that I have people and things that I need to take care of, the hustle is even more. I have to work it out so I can have the resources to foot the bills.

I strongly support this saying that;

anyone who does not work should not eat.

This is just the fact of life but some people feel so entitled, they want to enjoy when they did not labor. It doesn't happen that way. No wonder one businessmen had to call his business Work & Chop Ventures Nig. Ltd. He understands the concept behind working so that you can eat from the proceeds.

If there's anything that keeps me on my toes everyday, it's the thought of having to depend on my children, family members or even friends for my upkeep especially when I retire. I do not want to make the mistakes some of our parents made by not planning for their own retirement while they were training their children. Their hope was that the children will take care of them in old age, forgetting that times are changing, the economy is biting hard on everyone so the children may not be financially buoyant to cater for the needs of their family and parents. But if the parents have something to fall back on, it will be a lot easier for everyone.

This is how I see it and that is why I'm focused and committed on the daily grind and saving up. So it wouldn't be wrong to say that it is the desire to see that my family, and all those whom I am to help are well taken care of, and for my future, too that ignite the spark in me to always show up and face the day even in the face of all the jumbles. I have to do the work, engage in some businesses which Hive is one them, and save up now that I'm still young and fit. so that in years to come, when I might have retired, I can still enjoy my life, independent of anyone.

Thank you for reading...

Well, I wouldn't say that I really understood what I was doing and why I was doing it, but when I look back now, I realize that it was a training ground for me towards achieving my dream of independence.

I appreciate your contribution greatly.

I believe it’s a good thing that one plans for the future so they don’t become a burden to their kids
I’m sure a kid well taken care of will never forget their parent even if they parent does not ask for help.

I also don’t like people that feels entitled to other people possession probably because of how close they are with them. I had a friend like that and I had to cut her off

"Work and chop ventures Nig. LTD." I love the name. If everyone can do away with entitlement mentality, the economy of the nation would smile for it.
Your story inspires everyone who comes across it. You have come a long way in trying to be productive and set a good plan for your future. It's gratifying.

Very well said, we need to shy away from being entitled to things that aren't ours as no one owes us anything.
I appreciate your kind words.

Smiling all through while reading this 😂
The water leaf this is what I and my siblings did very well in those days. But we don't take them to houses, rather we hawk them and people buy them off easily 😂

I didn’t know kuli Kuli is made from tiger nuts and groundnut… interesting

See, take your crown because you really were a business tycoon, from selling to the rich and even at the road side. Wow!
