It's Already Five Years!

Greetings friends, welcome to my blog. Hope the weekend has been pleasant for you.

One thing I love about Google is its ability to bring back fond memories through its notifications. This morning, I received a notification from Google Photos that read, "Look back at this memory from 5 years ago, November, 30th." I clicked on it, and the moment I saw the photos I exclaimed "wow, it's five years already. How time flies."

As the photos played one after the other, I couldn't help but reminisce on the exciting moments I shared with my fourth nephew, Chimaobi – whom I fondly call "Sweet", on one of my vacations at River State.

I have a close bond with Sweet, which I believe stems from the early days when I took care of him as a nanny. When he was just three months old, my sister had to return to work, and I resigned from underpaying job in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State to care for him in Onne, Rivers State. It was such a great relief and one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Those early days were precious, filled with morning walks and special moments. Even as he grew up a toddler, Sweet would eagerly anticipate our daily walks, and I cherished our time together.

As he grew up to school age, I got a new job and I continued to be a part of his life, attending school events and spending quality time with him. But a time came when I had to leave in order to take up another job in a different town but that didn't make our bond grow any less. We talked often as he would always request for his mom, my sister, to call me so he can speak with me. Each time he will be like, "Auntie, I'm missing you. When are you visiting? 🥰
I was missing him too and hoped to visit during my next vacation, which I told him. I also promised to take him on special outing. He was ecstatic and started marking the calendar, lol.

The time for my vacation finally arrived, and I headed to Onne, Rivers State. I eagerly anticipated reuniting with Sweet, and his excitement was infectious. I loved fulfilling my promises to him, so I asked him to choose our destination. With a big smile, he opted for the popular Kilimanjaro, a trendy eatery. My boy certainly has refined taste, haha!

It was an unforgettable day filled with fun, laughter and excitement.

Heading to Kilimanjaro

Sweet made it even more special by asking to be my photographer. I was delighted to discover that he shares my passion for photography! I guess he might have picked up this interest from me, haha!

We got ice cream from Market Square and then went over to Kilimanjaro for some snacks.

There we enjoyed our snack time.

Fun time afterwards 😂

Tick tick tick, it was time to go and we returned home, both of us beaming with joy after sharing such a wonderful moment together.

These shared experiences have deepened our bond, and I'm thankful for the positive impact I've had on Sweet's life. He's blossomed into a respectful and fine young man. Now in Senior Class One at Nigerian Navy Secondary School (NNSS), Borokiri, Port Harcourt. I'm beaming with pride over his outstanding academic performance. His aspiration to study law is admirable, and I wholeheartedly support him every step of the way.

Thank you for reading!

Still the #threadsaddict 😂
