Social Media Challenge | Difficult battle in a mirror match! 😉
Overview
Today I brought a Ranked battle, where I had to play in a mirror match, so I had to pick few key monsters that are different than usual setups. Recently I found a very good replacement instead of the Diemonshark and I use him quite frequently. 😇
My upcoming Battle ruleset(s)

Ruleset | Description |
---|---|
Need for Speed | You can only summon units with 3 or more speed. |
Explosive Weaponry | All Monsters have the Blast ability. |
Blood and Sunder | All Monsters have the Corruption Ward ability. |
The mana cap for my next battle is 44, which is more than enough for my needs, but my strategy will be to build a solid front and try to give a chance for my Gladiator monster to start killing their team. The Explosive Weaponry will give the Blast ability to all of the monsters on the battlefield, which means that they will damage the adjacent monsters of their target as well. 😁
Hopefully this will give a huge chance for my Bandit and Isgald to kill their lineup indirectly.
The Need for Speed ruleset will only allow monster with higher than three speed, but that is not really an issue using the Water Splinter.
The Blood and Sunder ruleset will give the Corruption Ward ability, to all the monsters on the battelfield, which works the same way as the Thorns ability, but the main difference is while the Thorns is able to reflect the damage against the attacker health as well the Ward will refelct the damage against the enemy armor only. 😊
My lineup
![]() | The Pembrook Nymph cost 6 mana, which means that she is quite expensive compared to some of the cheaper options, but her ability is to give +1 health to all of her friendly monsters, which is also not that strong. On the otherhand her last ability is to bring one additional Gladiator monster into this battle which is quite amazing, because that would be a huge advantage over my opponent if I pick that monster carefully. 💪 |
Commander Slade is my newly invented main tank instead of the usual Diemonshark, because he has quite a lot of melee attack and amazing Speed with loads of armor and health. He might be able to soak up quite a lot of incoming damage and that is why he cost exactly 10 mana. 😊 | ![]() |
![]() | The Djinn Oshannus is an excellent off-tank with Magic attack costin eight mana. That is pretty high, but he has a lot of health and speed. He works perfectly against the magic attack monsters, because he has the Void ability, which will halves all the incoming magic damage. 😜 |
Noa the Just is quite cheap costing only 5 mana and compared to his mana cost he has quite a lot of health and armor in return, so he was the perfect choice to use him as my off-tank protecting my Isgald. He also has strong features such as his high speed and the rust ability, which will decrease all the enemy armors by two as long as he is alive. 🤗 | ![]() |
![]() | Isgald Vorst will be my key Gladiator monster in this battle and that is why I brought Pembrook Nymph as my Summoner. He is a melee attack monster and he has the Opportunity ability, which means that he will be able to attack the lowest health monster from the enemy team and on top of that if he manages to kill them he will increase his own stat by one using his Bloodlust ability. 😌 |
The Swamp Spitter is an excellent monster for this battle, because even though he has +3 ranged attack damage, which works nicely with his Giant Killer ability, which is pretty strong. This means if my opponent brings a monster who cost more than 10 mana he will deal double damage against it. He also has the Repair ability as well, which will allow him to repair two armor piece on a friendly monster who recently lost some of his armor. 👍 | ![]() |
![]() | The Pelacor Bandit is a very nice budget monster who doesn't cost a lot of mana, but offers great melee attack damage with very high speed. His most important feature is his Sneak attack, which means that he will always target the last monster from the enemy team. 😋 |
The Battle

My opponent brought Helios Matriarch who is a Dragon Summoner and such she is able to use the Dragon monsters as well on top of his choosen Splinter. She is able to give +1 speed to all of her friendly monsters and able to use one additional Gladiator monster in his team. 😄
In the first round my Pelacor Bandit attacked their last monster and managed to kill her quickly and also dodged a very important attack from their Isgald, which prooved me that it was a good choice bringing him in my lineup. Nothing else happened in the first round just both team dealt few damage here and there.
In the second round the attack from my Bandit was not enough to kill their Swamp Spitter, but gave the chance to my Isgald to finish the job and activate his Bloodlust ability. Sadly the enemy Isgald eventually killed my Bandit and he also increased all of his stats by one. Luckily my Swamp Spitter killed their Kulu Mastermind after their Noa lost its life against my Slade.
The remaining monsters were way quicker than mines, but my Slade stood firm in the first position and he still had two armor piece to negate the incoming killing blow from their Isgald.
Soon after their attacks my team indirectly killed their Isgald using their Blast damage and only their Djinn Oshannus left who couldn't last long enough and my team won the battle for me. 😊

Battle Result
Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?
My strategy to outsmart my opponent with few key monster, because it is very difficult to play against a mirror match. Choosing Slade as my tank and the Bandit as my Sneak attack monster turned out a really good idea, because as a tank Slade sustained and blocked a lot of incoming attacks. On the other hand my Bandit not just attacked, but managed to evade few important attacks and was able to protect himself and my lineup. 💪
