Overview

Today I brought a Wild Ranked battle where I will try to use an interesting tactic using the Weapons Training ability on my monsters whom doesn't have any attack. πŸ˜‡

My upcoming Battle ruleset(s)

image.png

RulesetDescription
UnprotectedMonsters do not have any armor and do not get armor from Abilities or Summoner Buffs.
Even StevensOnly Monsters with even Mana costs may be used in battles.

The mana cap for my next battle was 47, which is quite good, because it is enough to pick few big mana cap monsters as an addition to my team. The Even Stevens ruleset will effectively ban the use of the Odd mana cost monsters allowing the usage only the Even ones. 😌

The Unprotected ruleset will remove all the armors to the monsters on the battlefield, so it is pointless to bring monsters with the ability to increase armors or restore them. πŸ˜‰

My lineup

The Helios Matriarch is a Dragon Summoner, so she is able to use monsters from the Dragon and the choosen Splinter, which is quite good. On top of that she will increase the speed of all of her friendly monsters and being able to bring one additional Gladiator monster into this battle. 😁
Bringing Kothripus Bayne was the first reason that I picked the Death Splinter next to my Dragon mosnters, because as a Gladiator monster he is only available to play within the Guild battles. Luckily the Helios Matriarch is able to bring one additional Gladiator monster, so I picked him because he has a huge amount of mealth and melee attack damage, which is always good. On top of that he possess the Bloodlust ability as well, so whenever he kills his target he will increase all of his stats by one and that is crazy! πŸ˜…

The Ujurak Brave cost six mana, which is not that cheap and his melee attack is only one as well, but I had to bring him in order to try to counter the enemy magic attack monsters in case my opponent decide to bring them. Luckily he did, so the Silence ability was perfect on my Brave to decrese the magic attack of the enemy monsters by one. πŸ˜‹
The Riftwing cost only four mana, because he doesn't have any attack on its own, but that is why he would be the perfect candidate to my Skok to give him his +2 magic attack. He also has the Flying ability, which is always good to have and the Scavenger ability, so if a monster dies on the battlefield on either side he will increase his health by one each time. 😊

Skok Duskblight cost 8 mana, which is quite a lot, but he also has the Weapons Training ability, which will justify his mana cost. He has +2 magic attack damage, so thanks to his ability he will be able to give his attack to my non attack monsters adjacent to him. 😎
The Will-O-Wisp cost six mana and in return he has 10 health, which is very good to sustain quite a lot of damage from the enemy monsters. He doesn't have any attack, but my Berix Snakeye has the Weapons Training ability and he will give his own attack to him. He also has the Flying ability, which will further help him to evade the enemy melee and ranged attacks. πŸ˜‡

Berix Snakeye cost a a huge amount of 10 mana, but he is well worth its mana cost, because he also has the Weapons Training ability, which means that he gives +3 ranged any non attack monsters next to him. That is pretty OP if you ask me. His Void Armor and his huge health will protect him against magic attacks quite well and they can not ignore his armor as they would normally do. πŸ˜‰

My opponent brought Akane whis also a Dragon Summoner, so she will be able to bring Dragon and Water monsters into this battle. πŸ˜…

Her ability is to provide two choice to give one or two ability to her monsters before battle. The first option is to give two monsters the Ambush ability which allows them to attack first in round 0 while they also get to attack in round 1. What this basically allows you to potentially do is make sure your opponent starts with 1 monster less which tends to create a big advantage and a possible ripple effect. 😜

The other option is to give one monster the Lookout ability. This means that adjacent monsters receive one less damage from attackers with the Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity ability. Additionally all units take half damage from ambushes as long as a Lookout monster is on your team.". For me this is one of the examples how abilities have become to extreme and complicated as I zone out trying to grasp what it really does since it's not simple to understand. These just make the game a bit more complicated and not really necessary. πŸ€“

In the first round of the battle all of my monsters started attacking their Diemonshark and they killed him pretty quickly thanks to the speed buff from my Summoner. As soon as he died their Torrent Spawn became their tank, which was the perfect victim for my tank who killed it and activated his Bloodlust ability, which increased all of his stats by one.

In the second round my team followed the same pattern like in the first one and they killed even their Chaos Dragon as well and luckily the final blow was made by my tank, who managed to activate his ability once again! 😁

Their next tank was the Djinn Oshannus who is much more resilient especially against the magic attacks and his high speed, but in this battle all the gods were helping us and we managed to kill him as well quite easily.

Only two monster left in the enemy team, which was an easy ride to finish the battle and acquire the win for me. πŸ€—

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

My strategy was to try to use solid front and take advantage of the Weapons Training ability on two of my monsters, which worked perfectly to give ranged and magic attack to my two monsters who doesn't have any attack at all. 😎
