Social Media Challenge | Gladiator vs Gladiator! π€
Overview
Today I brought a Brawl battle, where me and my opponent brought the same Splinter and Summoner, because their was not too much choice and as a Brawl battle we will be able to use our Gladiator monsters to try to win this battle. π
My upcoming Battle ruleset(s)

Ruleset | Description |
---|---|
Aim True | Melee and Ranged attacks always hit their target. |
Up to Eleven | All Monsters have the Amplify ability. |
The mana cap for my next battle was 54, which is quite a lot and at least I can pick any monster that I want, because playing with only two Splinter is not very easy, because their will be higher chance for a mirror match. π€©
The Aim True ruleset will help a lot to hit any monster on the battlefield, because the melee and ranged attack monsters can not miss throughout the battle, so the only protection a regular monster would have is their armor.
The Up to Eleven ruleset will give the Amplify ability to the monsters on the battlefield and it means that all the reflected damage will be counted double. This ruleset is not that important especially if none of the monsters has an ability that makes them to reflect the incoming damage. βΊοΈ
My lineup
![]() | The Obsidian cost only 4 mana, which is perfect for this battle and she has the ability to increase the stats of all the magic attack monsters on the battlefield, but on the other hand the Counterspell ruleset will counter her ability. π€« |
Grund is an excellent choice as my tank and damage dealer, because my real tank will be my Terraceous Hulk at the end of my backline, so hopefuly Grund wil have plenty time to take advantage of his huge amount of 4 melee attack damage and his Double Strike ability. π | ![]() |
![]() | The Drybone Raider has two different kind of attack and on top of that he also has the Double Strike ability, which means that he will attack four times (two each) with his attacks. He has the Shatter ability as well, so if he deals any damage to his target he will destroy all of their remaining armor. π |
The Venari Marksrat is a Martyr monster and apart from that he doesn't have too much stats. He doesn't need to be strong at all, because he has one important ability, which means that he will increase the stats of the monsters next to him by one if he dies. π | ![]() |
![]() | Katrelba Gobson will be my key monster for this battle and I have tried to build my team around her. Stats wise she is not that powerful, because her melee attack damage is only two, but she has the Double Strike ability, so she will be able to attack twice against the last monster from the enemy team. Her most important ability, which will make her truly powerful is the Bloodlust, which means if she manages to kill her target she will increase her own stat by one for the rest of the battle. π |
The Fungus Flinger is an another Martyr monster, because I literally said that I built my team around Katrelba. He will also increase all the stats of his nearby allies in case he dies, so it is important to keep him in the middle of my backline. He also has the Blind ability, so all the enemy melee and ranged attacks have an increased chance of missing their target as long as he is alive. π | ![]() |
![]() | The Terraceous Hulk cost a lot of mana, but the mana cap was so good that I was able to squeeze him in. I gave him a very important role in this battle, where he will utilise his Taunt ability. What this means is that all the enemy monsters has to attack him no matter what, which hopefully will give enough time to my lineup especially to my Katrelba to acquire some killing blows. π |
The Battle

My opponent brought the Obsidian as well, because only the Fire and Earth Splinters were available. She also gives +1 magic to all of her monsters and my opponent brought quite a lot of them in order to use that buff. π
In the first round both of our monsters excepet our tanks started attacking the monster with the Taunt ability at the end of our lineup. Luckily their Madcap Magus had the Scattershot ability, which will makes his target random and when he attacked he hit my Venari Marksrat who died immediately. This was excellent, because he was able to use his Martyr ability and increase all the stats of my monsters adjacent to him. π€
My Raider got a nice inctrease for his attacks and quickly killed their Mycelic Slipspawn at the end of their backline, so all of my monsters were free to attack whoever they wanted. Especially my Katrelba who had the Sneak attack and will start attacking their squishy backline. That is why when she was attacking she managed to kill two of the enemy monster, which gave her +2 stats overal.
Just before the second round finished my Fungus Flinger killed their tank with his one ranged attack damage.
In the third round their Quora got 10 damage just from my Katrelba, but she still survived and even killed my Hulk, which gave her +1 stats as well using her Bloodlust ability. Right before the third round finished my Grund killed their tank and even attacked their Quora with his second attack.
The fourth round was deadly for Quora, because my Katrelba was super quick and managed to hit her with her 10 melee attack damage and killed her. π

Battle Result
Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?
My strategy was to try and take advantage of my Gladiator monster just like my opponent, but unfortunately I didn't have Quora, because my opponent Guild banned her, so I had to come up with an alternative if I wanted to win this battle.
The lucky shot from their Madcap Magus helped me a lot, because tha timing of that kill of my Marksrat was perfect to give a huge advantage for my Katrelba. π
