Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Battle Challenge! (Lost Magic)

image.png

I love the idea that the Weekly Battle Challenge changed instead of featuring a monster to represent a ruleset. It is so good to do something different than usual and I hope they will continually do this in the future. The best way would be to mix these challenges, so every week would be more interesting.

This week we need to show a ruleset, which is the Lost Magic and the way I used it to my (dis)advantage in the Battle I played. 😇

My only problem with this new system is that it is very difficult to do battles with the specific ruleset featured for the week challenge, because it is random what you are going to get and even if you have that ruleset you need to win it somehow, which is not always easy. 😏

Magic units may not be used in battle.

Use Thorns and Demoralize to counter melee attacks. Use Headwinds and Return Fire to counter ranged attacks. Units with 2 types of attack (which include magic) cannot be used.

The Lost Magic ruleset is a quite difficult one, because it will eliminate all the Magic attack monsters from the battle, which is the strongest attack type in the game. In the result of that Armors on the monsters bacome very important or if you have monsters with the abilities such as the Protect or Repair, because the monsters with any Armor on themselves will be capable to block an incoming Melee or Ranged attack. 😊

RulesetDescription
Tis but ScratchesAll monsters have the Cripple ability.
StampedeThe Trample ability can trigger multiple times per attack if the trampled Monster is killed.
Lost MagicMonsters with Magic attack may not be used in battles.

The mana cap was 20, which is very low, so many times it is advised to bring a lot of smaller mana monsters rather than having only one or two with high mana. This is especially true in this battle, because the Tis but Scratches ruleset will give the Cripple ability to all the monsters on the battlefield, so even if you have a high Health monster with the Heal ability the enemy monsters will reduce their maximum Health by one with each succesful attack. 😇

The Stampede provide the Trample ability to all the Melee attack monsters, which is nice if you happen to kill a monster and there is a monster right behind it, because they will get an extra attack.

It is pointless to bring Summoners who manipulates the Magic attack monsters unless you only have them in your collection. 😘

My lineup and the decision behind it!

Summoner
Lux Vega

image.png

Lux Vega is one of my favorite Summoner, because she is a Neutral Summoner therefore she can use any Splinter she choose using her level to play with them. The only exception is not use any Dragon monster, but that is forgivable considering that I do not have to rent other summoners. 😆

Her main power is to give +1 Speed, Armor and Health to all of her friendly monsters, which makes her truly powerful. 🙏

Mini Tank
Hardy Stonefish
image.png

The Hardy Stonefish is just a small tank, because I spent all my extra mana on my Deeplurker. Luckily the Stonefish also has some Armor, so he will be able to block few attacks before he dies. 😋

The Opportunist

Deeplurker
image.png

The Deeplurker is an amazing monster especially on higher levels, because he has high damage and the Demoralise ability, which is perfect for this battle to reduce the Melee attack of all the enemy monsters as long as he is alive.

His main ability is the Opportunity, which means that he will attack the lowest Health monster. 😁

Sneaker No.1
Pelacor Bandit
image.png

The Pelacor Bandit cost only 3 mana, so he will fit nicely into my team. He is my only monster with the Flying ability, which gives him an extra chance to dodge the incoming Melee and Ranged attacks. He also has the Sneak ability, which will allow him to attack the last monster from the enemy team. 💪

Sneaker No.2
Uraeus
image.png

The Uraeus cost 3 mana also like the Bandit and he is the perfect pair of him as well. He has the Sneak attack as well and on top of that he has the Poison ability, which will deal 2 damage at every end of the round if he manages to trigger that on his target, which is 50% chance. 😌

Main Backline Protector
Chaos Agent
image.png

The Chaos Agent cost only one mana, so he is an easy fit in any team, but his weakness is that he doesn't have any attack at all, so his main purpose will be to dodge and block few attacks from the enemy Sneak attack monsters if they will bring any. 😆

Mini Backline Protector
Torrent Fiend
image.png

The Torrent Fiend is just a backline protector in case my opponent would bring something big to attack my backline directly. 😎

My opponent brought Lux Vega as well with similar monsters, so it will be interesting to see who will prevail. In the first round both of us killed our first backline protectors, which was the Torrent Fiend and it looks like the quickest will monster will win this game. 🤞

Luckily my opponent didn't bring a Deeplurker who decreased the Melee attack of all the enemy monsters by one and also a huge help to deal extra damage against their backline. At the end of the first round I also lost my "mini" tank, because he brought a much stronger tank and off-tank with the Reach ability.

Sadly in the second round the enemy Sneak monsters didn't miss my Chaos Agent at all and almost died, which happened in the third round. At least my Bandit got rid of his twin brother and my Uraues had a clean shot against their Uraeus, but couldn't Poison him.

Thanks to the Demoralize ability on my Deeplurker the two tank didn't have enough damage to kill my Deeplurker in the fourth round, which was a huge advantage and my two Sneaker could kill their Uraeus easily. 😊

The Angelic Mandarin helped a lot to his team Repairing Armors and Healing their frontmost monster and in the result of that I have lost my Deeplurker.

In the fifth round the Poison on their tank helped my Bandit to kill him, so from now on it was two vs two.

There was a very important moment when my Uraues managed to Poison their Mandarin, because otherwise he could not kill her thanks to her Repair ability.

In the seventh round finally she died and only their Tide Biter and my Uraues left on the battlefield.

I was very lucky that my Uraeus attacked first and managed to kill their Tide Biter with his last attack otherwise he would die. 😇
