From Doodles to Digital , Transforming Hobbies into a Career

We all have hobbies in life, and you're lucky if your hobby also becomes your bread and butter. There's even a quote attributed to Confucius, although it's not verified, 'Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.'

That's what happened to me. It so happened that my job is something I love to do, which is related to drawing, graphics, and arts.

Since I was a child, I've loved drawing. I was one of those kids whose notebooks were filled with drawings. I still remember that I often drew robots because, during my childhood, The Transformers animation was popular.

Sometimes, I even drew on the walls of our old house just for fun. Hahaha!

In the past few weeks, I've thought about advancing my level in creating graphics, and one idea I had was to make videos. I wanted my graphics to move, so if you notice, some of my post covers are now animated.

At first, I was just doing it for fun, enjoying myself when I created a video. I even made an animated GIF in case someone would give me a Pizza Token as a thank you, but I never got to use it because no one gave me any. Hahaha!!!

I use the CapCut application to make these short videos, and I really enjoy it.

Now, I'm already using this skill in my work by making short reels for my clients, although I'm still not that good at it.

I've wanted to make short videos or reels for Facebook and YouTube shorts for a long time, but the problem was I didn't know what kind of videos to make. I used to make religious short videos, but I felt they weren't suitable as samples for clients, not because of the religious topic, but because most of my religious videos were simple and text-based.

Until the last week, I suddenly thought of making funny or humorous ads. The other day, I posted one of the videos I made.

Some of my videos feature invented, non-existent products, while others feature actual products. My wife affiliates on TikTok, and she needs to create videos for the free samples she receives, so I help her with this.

Here are some of the videos I've made in the past two weeks. At first, I was pleased with what I had done, but as I self-learn online, I notice many mistakes in my videos.

I'm thankful I found a direction for what niche I want to pursue because, honestly, having a niche is one of the most important things when creating a channel. I can't just make random videos because random content has no recall, especially since I don't show my face in the videos.

Hopefully, I'll get better with each video I make. It's not just because I want my channel to be recognized, but also because there's an idea that in the future, when I'm good at it, I might get more clients who want me to create videos for them. For now, I can only make simple videos, but who knows? Maybe in the future, I'll be able to create great videos.
