Me: Posting Her Engagement. Her BF: “Who Engaged Her?” (SHE FOOLED US ALL)

I’ve never been one to fall for “April’s fool” which is usually done to welcome us all into the new month of April. I thought I was too smart for that but one of my friends proved me wrong, it was such a hilarious one.

On the 30th of March, she posted on our girls group that she had a big announcement. To be honest, most of us in the group had hoped it would be an engagement news because she and her boyfriend are absolutely in love. Only that I’d feel offended if he proposed without involving us, her ride or die? Or maybe they wanted an intimate ceremony where it’s just them. Ladies and gentlemen, before even hearing the announcement, I had thought it up, found reasons and excuses to justify an announcement I was yet to receive, lol.

Lo and behold, on the first of April, she sent a picture of her and an engagement ring on her hand to the group, to say we were happy is an understatement. Me being the oversabi friend that I am, quickly posted the picture on my status and IG story.

Where things started going sideways was when her boyfriend DMed in absolute terror to ask, “who engaged her?” AH. “What do you mean who engaged her? It wasn’t you?”, I asked in response. To say he was perplexed will be an understatement.

Ladies and gentlemen, that’s how we started calling this girl oh. Her boyfriend, myself, her sister and even her mum. She didn’t pick anyone’s call. I don’t know how in this world my mind didn’t remember that it was April fool’s day, none of us did. That lucky girl.

I was absolutely worried about her. I felt guilty even. Maybe she was double dating and the other one was serious and she accepted his proposal. I felt guilty for posting the picture and revealing her secret even though I wondered why she didn’t tell any of us she was seeing someone other than the person we all knew to be her boyfriend. It doesn’t make it right but I would have at least protected her if she’d told me.

Evening came, then this girl posted on her IG that it was a prank. Apparently, she’d asked chatGPT to generate an image of her with an engagement ring on her fingers.

And we were too focused on the ring, we didn’t even notice how different her face looked. Or perhaps we thought it was just makeup. That is how this girl deceived EVERYBODY, even her boyfriend. I’m sure that guy almost suffered a heart attack that day. It also probably scared him into actions because now he has created a group for us to plan their proposal which will of course be a surprise to my friend.

Lol, this is one of the best pranks that’s been played on me and that I fell for. A memorable one.
