Splinterlands: Upgrading my Game by Buying Cards and Staking SPS

Hello Splinterlands Summoners! Following the release of Conclave Arcana I'm still in the process of upgrading my game. I'm doing this by increasing my staked SPS to earn more rewards and buying cards from the market. It will be a fun journey to strengthen my deck again and I'm motivated to collect and own cards again as I see Conclave Arcana not losing their value similar to the previous Chaos Legion set.

Staking SPS

In preparation for the upcoming Yaba's Pickle promo card, I bought around six thousand SPS using my liquid Hive. This increased my balance to fourteen thousand (14k) staked SPS which will enable me to buy fourteen copies of Yaba's Pickle. Increasing my staked SPS also increased my reward boost allowing me to earn more Glints and SPS.

Buying Cards

I'm checking out the market for the cards I need in battle. I focus on cards that will have synergy with my current team. I also chose to buy Gold Foil versions if they are close in value to their regular foil counterparts. Here are the recent cards I bought.

Archons

All my archons are now at least level two. Having a level two archon will unlock the use of higher level units giving me an edge over opponents who still have level one archons. Archon prices are still consistent. I was lucky to buy a couple of gold foils at below $12 but now even the regular foils do not come that cheap. I also bought unit cards that I need in my deck. I considered their utility and synergy with my team when I bought these cards.

Swiftbeard Stout (Level 2)

Swiftbeard Stout is a dwarf so he can take advantage of the Bloodline Dominion buff by the Fire archon. He deals two ranged damage, has seven health and two speed. He has the Taunt ability which draws attack from the opponent. This is a favorite strategy of mine with the Chaos Legion set. I just need a card with Triage ability to sustain Swiftbeard. He also has the new ability, Bloodline Tribute which is just Martyr but only buffs units with similar bloodlines, in this case, dwarves. This ability synergizes well with the Taunt ability since it's guaranteed that he Swiftbeard will die first and buff his bellow dwarves upon death.

Mad Kaboomist (gold foil)

Mad Kaboomist is a dwarf that deals two magic damage, has one health and three speed. He has the Snipe and Divine Shield abilities. Being a dwarf, he can be used in battle with the dwarf archon if the Earth splinter is available to play. This is a new feature in Splinterlands where units of the same bloodlines as the archons can be summoned even if they are not of the same Splinter. It brings a new area of strategy and consideration when building a deck. In my case, I prioritize cards that are the same bloodlines as the archons. I bought the Mad Kaboomist for 80 cents, a good deal considering fourteen copies (level 3) of the regular foil costs 85 cents.

Steppe Stalker (gold foil)

Steppe Stalker is an orc that deals two ranged damage and has one speed. He also has one armor and five health for sustainability. His abilities are good and fit for his role. He has Close Range making him a good unit to use in Keeping the Distance ruleset. He also has Slow to decrease the speed of the opponent team. Being an orc, he takes advantage of the bloodline dominion buff by the archon. I bought the gold foil version for 87 cents, still a good deal considering the reward multiplier gold cards gives.

Virid Venomancer (gold foil)

The Virid Venomance is another orc but of the Earth splinter meaning I can use her with Water and Earth archons. She deals two magic damage and has two speed. She also has one armor and three health. For abilities, she has Shield Ward, granting an armor to units in front of her.

Conclave Tracker (gold foil)

Conclave Tracker is human so she will not have any Bloodline Dominion buffs but I bought her because of her Repair ability. Sustaining my tank with Repair is another strategy I employed with the previous set. On the stats side, she deals one magic damage and has three speed. She can be a good backline unit or alternative tank with her two armor and five health. She also has the Opportunity ability, a versatile card that can help win battles.

Aranduriel (level 1 epic)

Aranduriel is an epic elf of the Dragon splinter. She deals great ranged damage with three. She also has four health and two speed. Being an elf, she will have the Execute ability granted by the elf archon. I'm growing to appreciate the Execute ability as it has won me battles on many occassions.

Those are cards I bought and there are still cards that I like to add to my deck. These are not legendary cards but they have abilities that I like and fit my playing style.

Final Thoughts

The Chase is Real! Conclave Arcana has reinvigorated my desire to collect and own cards. Previously, I was renting to play but now, I'm even setting a side a budget to buy packs in the hopes of pulling ultra rare Black Foil or Arcane versions of cards. It would be nice to have some in my collection. I'm grateful that the Splinterlands team has found a way to make this game great again!

You are doing just awesome, Logen. Continue building your CA collection and you will definitely feel the difference once you learn and utilise them in battles. Like your card choices, especially the gold ofil ones, it will increase your battle SPS earnings. The chase is real indeed, so collect these cards before they go to the moon!
