Splinterlands Social Media Challenge: Buying Rebellion Cards
Hello Splinterlands Summoners and welcome to another edition of Social Media Challenge! In preparation for the move of Chaos Legion Set to Wild Format, I have been looking for some cards that will fit my team from the Rebellion Set. I only bought two cards at the moment to test them and see how they perform in battle. They are the Ahna-Chie Botanist and the Pirate of Eight.
Ahna-Chie Botanist
The Ahna-Chei Botanist is a two mana common Death Splinter. It has no attack but at level 1 it has the Double Strike ability which is a bit ironic. However, paired cards having the Weapons Training ability then it will have a great utility. This is a low mana card so it will be easy to find a slot in battles, especially in Little League ruleset. I'm just hoping that there will be more cards with the Weapons Training ability in the Conclave Arcana set that I can pair this card with. At level 4, this card will gain another ability, Blind which will debuff the enemy team. Pretty useful for just a two mana common card.
Pirate of Eight
The Pirate of Eight is another low mana card. It's a rare Water Splinter that deals one melee damage at level one. What I like about this card is at level one it already has two useful abilities, Reach and Blast! It would be great to level this card up to 3 where it gains another attack or 5 where its attack goes up to 3 melee damage. Needing only 4 mana to field in battle, it will be great in Little League ruleset or even in Rise of Commons ruleset.
Featured Battle
Today's featured battle involves the Pirate of Eight. The rulesets are Target Practice, Little League and Unprotected. All Splinters except Dragon maybe used and the mana cap was twenty eight. I picked the Water Splinter in this battle even though the rulesets include Unprotected which negates Kelya's buff. However, I wanted to be be fast and hit my opponent's unshielded units.
My Team
Kelya Frendul (summoner)
Kelya provides additional speed to the team. she is the favorite and most expensive rare card in the Chaos Legion Set.
Xenith Monk (tank)
The Xenith Monk is a neutral card and a great tank for only four mana. It deals two melee damage, has four speed and tanky with seven health. It also has the Heal ability which sustains him battle.
Pirate of Eight (second position)
The Pirate of Eight is perfect in this battle at second position. She has the Reach and Blast abilities which will greatly help in reducing the enemy health.
Uraeus (third position)
Uraeus is another neutral card that I use often. I even bought a max copy of this card as I find it very easy to field in battles because of its damage potential and abilities. It can deal two melee damage and has the Sneak and Poison abilities.
Kulu Swimhunter (fourth position)
Kulu Swimhunter deals three ranged damage and requires only four mana. It's a card I often use whenever I pick the Water Splinter. Even though it doesn't have any abilities, it's damage and speed makes up for its lack of abilities.
Venari Marksrat (fifth position)
I chose the Venari Marksrat because of its Martyr ability. I was hoping it will buff the card it's adjacent too when it gets eliminated.
Shock Trooper (sixth position)
The Shock Trooper is one card I'm hesitant to use because of its Electrified ability which hurts the whole team. On the other hand, it deals massive damage for only four mana and it has the Swiftness ability providing another speed buff to my team.
Opponent Team
My opponent also picked the Water team and also has the Xenith Monk and Uraeus. His lineup was purely Chaos Legion cards though compared to mine which had Rebellion cards.
The Battle
My units were faster and quickly eliminated two of the opponent's cards before they even had their turn. My Shock Trooper got eliminated first but he did his job and got the enemy's Merdaali Guardian. The Pirate of Eight also performed well, eliminating the enemy's tank and damaging the second position card. I won the battle with three cards to spare.
