Splinterlands Season 167

Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome to my blog! Today's post is about end of Season 167. I used SplinterStats to generate the following data. It shows how I performed during the season as well as the glints and SPS I earned. I also pulled my first jackpot card before the end of season.

Performance

I ended the season in Silver III, ranked 121. The competition is tough and I find it difficult to advance further. I ended the season with a rating of 1,160 with a highest of 1,320. I'm surprised with my high win ratio of 171 wins out of 185 battles since the competition is difficult. I must have achieved most of my wins in Bronze because it's hard to get wins once I got in Silver League.

Rewards Earned

I earned a total of 60k+ Glints and 86 SPS during the season. This is purely from ranked battles. Clearly, there's a lot of room for improvement since my deck no longer perform as well as before. I usually have a hard time against teams with legendary archons like Eternal Tofu and Lorkus. I'm going to review top battles and see which line ups I can afford and compete at higher Silver if not lower Gold league.

SPS Earned

I earned a total of 258 SPS during the season. This includes staking of 40, ranked rewards of 86 and brawl rewards of 132. It's very clear from this data that brawls is the highest contributor of my SPS earnings which is more than half of the total SPS rewards. I'm staking all SPS earnings to earn more from that piece. I'm also buying SPS on hive-engine but I'm reserving those for the upcoming mini set to be released in February.

Frontier Jackpot

I got lucky shortly before the end of season and pulled a jackpot card and a gold foil to boot! It's a rare Necrulencian Thief that deals two melee damage and has the Sneak ability.

Featured Battle

The featured battle illustrates why we need a wide collection of cards. I don't usually use the team that I used in this battle but I had to since my usual choice of Fire/Dragon combo was not available. Instead, I used Life to combo with my Dragon cards. My Life cards were not even levelled up yet and at their lowest levels. The members of the team maybe different but this is the same formula I use when I form my battle line up.

I used a two tank combo of Ulundin Overseer and Leolin Sifu. The Overseer is a tough tank with no attack but has the Flank ability enabling me to put an attacker tank in second position. Leolin Sifu fits the role since she has three melee damage and cannot miss due to her True Strike ability. My next three units are my damage dealers including the versatile Night Reaper who can also serve as a third tank. Finally in last position is a Taunt unit which is a regular card in my line up. Aside from being a Taunt unit, Syreth deals four ranged damage and had decent defense for her role as damage absorber.

My enemy is no push over. He has a level six Reklaf for his archon followed by high level units. Unlucky for him, his Taunt unit, Helheim Demon is flying and susceptible to Night Reaper's Wing Break ability. My units were weaker individually but had better synergy that allowed them to defeat a more powerful opponent.

The Grind Continues

Right after the season end, I keep playing to get out of Bronze immediately and start earning more SPS and glints. I intend to keep staking my SPS and increase my stack. I'm also playing in the Frontier at the same time and earning DEC by selling some reward cards. I already maxed my Frontier set so I don't need extra cards anymore and just sell them for DEC.
