Splinterlands End of Season and New Cards

avatar

Hello Splinterlands Summoners and welcome to my blog! A Splinterlands season has just ended before the year ends. I finished in Silver League and earned over 50k Glints. It's much less than what I regularly earned in previous seasons but the competition has been getting tougher. It seems more players are playing Splinterlands again and inspite of upgrading my cards, I still lose a lot of battles in Modern Mode. I spent most of my glints on minor chests, hoping to get something an epic or legendary card. I bought one hundred minor chests but I'm not lucky, getting only commons and rares. However, I was able to upgrade some of my cards.

Cullborn Revenant

Cullborn Revenant is Fire splinter common card. It levelled up to four and had a bit of an upgrade in its health that went up by one. It deals two magic damage and has three speed. It has one armor and four health at level four. It has the Snipe ability.

Thornmaw Berserker

Thornmaw Berserker is a common Death card. It levelled up to four where it gained an important ability, Magic Reflect. It becomes a viable tank with counter against magic attacks. There are not many good tanks in the Death team in the Conclave Arcana set so Thornmaw Berserker can be a good choice. It deals two melee damage and has great speed of four. It has decent defense of three armor and seven health for its role as a tank.

Magmaforged

Magmaforged is another common Fire splinter card. It levelled up to three gaining a good ability, Pinpoint. It's a new ability that enables allied Sneak attacks to never miss. This makes the Magmaforged a great unit to combo with a strong sneak attacker, Grove Doomblade.

Grove Doomblade has an insane attack of five. However, she's awfully slow leading to her attacks being dodged by faster units. With Magmaforged in the team, it ensures that Grove Doomblade's five melee sneak attack will always hit the enemy. This is one powerful combo indeed.

Featured Battle

My featured battle of the season involves the Fire splinter. It's the only choice in the ruleset which also included Arcane Dampening so I used only melee and ranged units with the Conclave Arcana archon, Fithe Bladestone. He buffs allied units with an additional two armor stats.

Drybone Megalodon

My main tank in the Fire splinter is Drybone Megalodon. It deals four melee damage and has two speed. It has three armor and six health on defense. It has the Flank ability allowing another tank to be placed in second position where it will have the Reach ability.

Molten Elemental

Molten Elemental regularly comboes with Drybone Megalodon in position two. It deals dual damage of two ranged and two melee. It has an armor, five health and good speed of four. It also has the Flying ability making it a good unit in Earthquake rulesets.

Grove Doomblade

My best damage dealer in the Fire team that I also use with Earth since she is of elven bloodline. She deals a huge damage of five, has three armor and five health. She is set back by her low speed stat of one, making her attacks susceptible to dodge. In the future, I'll combo her with Magmaforged to ensure her attacks don't miss.

Ember Roast Sow

I used this as a filler unit. It has very low attack but has the Sneak ability that could assist Grove Doomblade decimate the enemy's rear.

Portly Cannoneer

The Portly Cannoneer deals two ranged damage. He has the Inspire ability that adds one attack stat to my melee attackers.

Swiftbeard Stout

A regular part of my strategy is to have a Taunt unit to draw attacks away from my tank and low health damage dealers. Swiftbeard Stout fulfills this role in the Fire team. He also has the Bloodline Tribute ability that buffs all dwarves in the team when he gets defeated.

Enemy Team and Battle

The enemy team also used the same archon. We have some common units but my advantage lies in having better synergy and having the better unit in position two. My Molten Elemental is way better than the enemy's Vicious Giraffe, having more attack and defense. I also have a Taunt unit that will empower my Portly Cannoneer with Bloodline Tribute.

My team was able to eliminate the enemy's tank and Grove Doomblade first and it went easy after that. My team just picked the remaining enemy members that had lower stats.
