Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: New Team Builds!

Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome to another edition of Community Engagement Challenge! Today, let's examine possible new team builds in the era of Conclave Arcana. As Chaos Legion left the Modern League, we need to find new synergies and effective team combos in our battles. In today's post, I'll share some of my team builds and combos. In all these builds, the new Conclave Arcana archons will be used instead of the Rebellion archons. Take note that these are current teams I'm using based on my available cards. There are some more cards out there for possible combos that I don't have yet.

Fire Splinter/Dwarf Bloodline

This team is built for offense. I don't have defensive Fire tanks so my strategy is to hit fast and hard. I would also like to draw attacks away from my tanks since they don't have much defensive stats.

Drybone Megalodon (first position)

The Drybone Megalodon deals a lot of damage but has only three armor and six health. That's not enough for sustainability as a tank. He has the Flank ability enabling another strong tank in the second position.

Oridum Graybrow (second position)

Oridum Graybow also deals a lot of damage but not much in terms of defense. Both tanks should work fast to dispose of the enemy tank before they get eliminated.

Portly Cannoneer

The Portly Cannoneer buffs my two melee damage dealers with one additional melee attack. He also deals two ranged damage himself from the rear. Being a dwarf, he will have the Bloodline Dominion buff and the Bloodline Tribute buff from Swiftbeard Stout.

Swiftbeard Stout

Swiftbeard Stout has the Taunt ability to draw attacks away from my squishy tanks. He also has the Bloodline Tribute ability that will buff units of the same bloodline. He deals two ranged damage and has seven health.

That's the barebones of my Fire team, other damage dealers can be added depending on the mana available.

Water Splinter/Orc Bloodline

For the Water splinter, I mix it with Orcs from other splinters. There are a lot of good orc cards that I use in Water.

Commander Slade (tank)

Commander Slade remains my best tank in the Water splinter. He deals a lot of melee damage and has great defensive stats and abilities. His weakness is still his lack of defense against magic attacks. In cases where the enemy will use magic then I can switch my tank to Giant Alpine Skink.

Thraghun (second position)

Thraghun is from the Death splinter but can be used by Water because he is an orc. He is perfect for second position having two attacks, melee and ranged. He also has the Reach ability making him deal damage from behind the tank.

Archer Koi

The Archer Koi has the Repair ability to help sustain my tank. He can also deal one range damage from the rear.

Earth Splinter/Elf Bloodline

For the Earth Splinter, I employ a similar strategy of dual tanks as in the Fire Splinter. I also use elves whenever I can to take advantage of the Execute ability granted by the archon, Kaylia.

Folen Flameye (first position)

Folen Flameye has a similar role as the Drybone Megalodon in the Fire splinter. He deals decent damage but has little defense. He also has the Flank ability allowing me to use two tanks.

Warborn Chieftain (second position)

The Warborn Chieftain also deals a lot of damage. He has no armor but he has the Shield ability to reduce melee and ranged attacks. He also has Phase that allows him to dodge magic attacks.

Blackmoor Wild Elf

The Blackmoor Wild Elf deals two magic damage and will have the Execute ability granted by the archon, Kaylia. I'm beginning to see value in the Execute ability since it won me close battles numerous times.

Silverleaf Warlock

The Silverleaf Warlock is from the Death splinter but I can also use him in Earth. His role is similar to the Blackmoor Wild Elf since he also deal two magic damage and will have the Execute ability.

Light Splinter/Ulund Bloodline

Janni Rebel (first position)

Janni Rebel deals two magic damage, has two speed and eight health. Not much defense like the Megalodon or Folen Flameye but she also has the Flank ability allowing for a second tank in battle.

Leolin Sifu (second position)

Leolin Sifu deals three melee damage and has two speed. She also has six armor and eight health. My strategy for the Light splinter is similar to the Fire and Earth having dual tanks.

Thunderous Herald

The Thunderous Herald deals two magic damage and weakens the attack of enemy melee units she hits because of her Enfeeble ability. She is a good damage dealer and support unit in the rear.

Calabash Sage

A good unit to put in the rear position and guard against Sneak attackers. She has the Shield ability to decrease melee attacks. On offense, she deals a lot of ranged damage of four. She also has six health and slow with only one speed.

Death Splinter/Gnome Bloodline

I use the Death splinter mostly in cases where melee is not allowed because the archon Razi Clanktrap provides the Close Range ability to all ranged units.

Death Ranger (first position)

I didn't use the Death Ranger before but now he is a good tank in Going the Distance rulesets. He has six armor and four health. He also has the Void Armor ability against magic attackers.

Thraghun (second position)

I already wrote about the merits of Thraghun in the Water splinter so I won't repeat them here.

Shadowfey Shiek

The Shadowfey Shiek is perfect for Earthquake rulesets. He deals one magic damage, has five health and two speed. His Life Leech ability comes in handy as it keeps increasing his health when he does damage to the enemy.

Gonach Excavator

The Gonach Excavator deals three melee damage and has the Sneak ability to hit the enemy rear units. He also has the Reckless ability making him a perfect unit to synergize with gnomes since the archon grants the Painforge ability to all gnomes.

Deep Delver

I just bought this unit as I see the synergy with the Gonach Excavator. The Deep Delver deals two ranged damage and has the Rust ability. I would place him beside the Gonach Excavator to take advantage of the Painforge ability granted by the archon.

Dragon Splinter/Drakoshan Bloodline

Aranduriel

I bought Aranduriel for her high damage output of three ranged damage. Being an elf, I can use her in the Earth splinter and she will be more deadly with the Execute ability.

Songale

I like units with Taunt ability since my strategy is to draw attacks away from my tank. Aside from this, Songale also has the Reckless ability which I can synergize with units with Painforge ability.

Neutral

Arcane Skinwalker

Arcane Skinwalker deals two magic damage, has two speed, four armor and five health. He is a versatile unit that can play in any position including the tank.

Conclave Tracker

I like units with Repair ability and that's why I added the Conclave Tracker in my deck. I was lucky to buy a gold foil for cheap. The Conclave Tracker deals one magic damage and has three speed. She also has two armor and five health. One downside for her is her hefty mana of eight.

Final Thoughts

The above teams and unit combinations are the ones I presently use. Some work effectively while others still leave room for improvements. I still have some cards in mind to buy as I shape my new strategies and combos in the era of Conclave Arcana. It's a fun experience forming my new teams and trying out new combos and synergies.
