Shiraza: Empowering Other Cards

avatar

Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome back to my blog. Shiraza is the new epic Dragon splinter card from the Escalation set. I previously wrote about Shiraza and Ulundin Overseer combo. In today's post we'll take a more in depth look at Shiraza.

Stats and Abilities

Shiraza is a seven mana, Neutral card that means she can be used by all splinters and all cards can benefit from her buff.

Shiraza has great stats, boasting of three magic damage, excellent five speed and eight health. What makes her special is Weapons Training ability at level two that gives utility to cards that I don't usually use. When you buy a Shiraza, you're not just buying one card. You're giving utility to cards that would have just remained unused in your collection. Shiraza gives you more choices. Shiraza also has Phase at level three which is complemented by her excellent speed. At level five, she gains a debuff ability, Halving.

For players with limited budget like me, a level two Shiraza with Weapons Training ability is a game changer. My cards that lay dormant in my collection now have utility. In addition, Escalation set came with a lot of no attack cards that pairs well with Shiraza.

Comparison with Other Cards with Weapons Training

A level two Shiraza with Weapons Training ability costs around $8. Let's check out other cards that has the same ability.

Daarg Deadblast

Perhaps the closest comparison is the legendary Daarg Deadblast. He is also a seven mana card that deals two magic damage. He costs over $8 and has an additional ability, Swiftness. On the other hand, he is a Water splinter card that limits his utility to only Water compared to Shiraza who is neutral.

Moxian Rebel

The Moxian Rebel is also neutral card. It costs only sixty cents but it only deals one magic damage. It will have more attack but that is until level seven.

Bren Palesworn

Bren Palesworn is also a neutral card. He has dual attacks that he can lend to cards with no attacks. He gains the Weapons Training ability at level two so it will cost around $15 to get that benefit.

Combos

Aside from Ulundin Overseer, there are plenty of cards in the Escalation set that will benefit from Shiraza's Weapons Training ability. These cards will gain two magic damage from a level two Shiraza. These are low mana cards that will easily find slots in your line ups.

Ashveil Tactician

Ashveil Tactician boasts of a slew abilities including two buffs Inspire and Flank. I find Inspire that she gets from level two most useful since it buffs the whole team with melee attack. She is also an Elf that will gain Execute from the Earth archon.

Drifting Manatee

Drifting Manatee is the Water card with three mana. It gains the Dodge ability at level two but he is awfully slow. He does gain a useful Cleanse Rearguard ability that will good in Noxious Fumes ruleset.

Earthwork Sentinel

The Earthwork Sentinel is a three mana card that has four useful abilities. I have mine at level two that has the Slow ability. At higher levels, it gains Shield Ward and Triage.

Kobold of Burden

Kobold of Burden has five mana. Similar to the other cards, it will also have four abilities at maxed level. Most useful are Swiftness and Resurrect.

Ignited Alchemist

The only card in the group that has five abilities, Ignited Alchemist has the Incendiary debilitation that he turns into a buff with Flame Fed. Instead of decreasing health, he gains +1 every round. He can also fly that makes him a key card in Earthquake rulesets.

Featured Battle

The battle was capped at twenty six mana. I fully utilized two of my no attack cards together with Shiraza. Aside from being low mana, they have utility that buffs and debuffs the enemy. Earthwork Sentinel slowed down the enemy while Ashveil Tactician has Inspire. Ashveil tactician is an elf and gained Execute to bolster her offense.

My enemy had the legendary Eternal Tofu. Before, I'd usually lose to this team but now my lineup is bolstered by the new Escalation cards that help me win battles. Shiraza and the other cards gave me the win in this battle.
