Hello soccer and #sports fans! Genesis League Goals recently dropped an update on player images. Previously, the game lost access to player images after its licensing agreement with the Major League Soccer Players Association (MLSPA) expired. As a result, official MLSPA photos were removed, leaving blank placeholders on player cards. The absence of images made the cards noticeably less appealing to collect. To address the loss of player images, the GLG team developed new visuals using a mix of AI generated and custom designed avatars. These updated images are now live in the game. Featuring players of various nationalities, the new avatars not only refresh the game's aesthetic but also expand its international appeal.

Building a Team

A team in Genesis League Goals can be composed of twenty two players. These are made up of seven starters, five substitutes and ten reserves.

Starters

Starters are the players who take the field and actively participate in a match. Each starting lineup consists of exactly seven player cards: one goalkeeper, two defenders, two midfielders, and two forwards.

Substitutes

Substitutes are players available to replace starters during halftime. Each team can select up to five substitutes.

Reserves

Reserves are backup players who can be swapped in for starters or substitutes between matches. Teams can include up to ten reserve players.

Coach

A team will also need a coach. A coach will provide buffs to the team and debuff to the opposing team depending on the coach.

Boost

Team in Possession: (+) 15% effect to success chances of a random action (Dribbiling, Passing - sending/receiving pass or Shooting) each turn to the team.

Opponent in Possession: (-) 15% effect to success chances of a random action (Dribbiling, Passing - sending/receiving pass or Shooting) each turn to opponenet team.

Nacho Aguilar costs fifty cents in the market and grants a 15% boost to team dribbling, passing or shooting while debuffing the opposing team with an equal 15% on similar actions. Nacho is a great all around coach.

Goalkeeper

Manuel Costa is selling for $1.75. He is a good goalkeeper with a high blocking stats of nine. His passing stats is eight making him hard to intercept. A good mix of blocking and passing stats for a goalkeeper.

Forward 1

Shota Kaneko has high offensive stats. His shooting is at eight while his passing and dribbling are both nine. For only thirty cents, he's a good addition to our team.

Forward 2

Omar Lucas is very cheap at only eight cents for what he brings to the pitch. His shooting stats is phenomenal at nine while his dribbling stats is at eight. His passing stats is only six but that is fine considering his cost.

Midfielder 1

Midfielders are considered the engine of a soccer team, responsible for connecting defense and attack. We will have to buy the midfielders with high stats on offense and defense.

Imam Budi has almost a complete kit with only his shooting stats a bit low with five. That's not as important for midfielders though since they won't be shooting that much. Imam Budi costs $1.80 which I think is worth it considering his stats.

Midfielder 2

Jonas Berglund has also great stats for a midfielder but at only half the price at only ninety two cents. His defensive stats are great and so is his offensive skills.

Defender 1

Defenders play a crucial role in stopping the opposing team from scoring and often initiate attacks from the back. Good defenders need a strong mix of defensive stats and passing.

Adam Haddad boasts of great defensive stats as well as high marks on passing and dribbling. These are essential skills of a good defender. At only twenty five cents, he's a steal.

Defender 2

Marwan Al-Hussein is selling a bit higher at ninety four cents. Similarly, he has high defensive stats and offensive ones as well.

That completes our team for a total cost of $6.54. Add in the cost of $10 franchise and you can start to play Genesis League Goals for less than $20. You can add more substitutes and reserves if you want. Just head over the the market to buy more cards.

Final Thoughts

With player images back, it's more fun to collect GLG cards again. It's true that having more nationalities will appeal to a broader audience. I'm not much of a soccer fan but I was looking for players from my side of the world. There are good Japanese, Korean and Chinese players but not much from South East Asia. In fairness, soccer is not that popular in our country compared to other sports such as basketball and volleyball. How about these games in the future for Genesis League Sports?
