“A Quiet School Day Turned Into a Sweet Birthday Celebration!”

Hello everyone! Hello my dear friends! Hello to this wonderful community of @hiveph! How are you all today? I hope everyone is okay. This is me again, “LJ” to share another simple life story with you all.

Yesterday was supposed to be an ordinary day, but it turned into one of those simple, heartwarming moments worth remembering. Face-to-face classes were suspended here in Sorsogon because of the LPA, yet as non-teaching staff, we still had to report to school. The whole campus felt unusually quiet, almost like a weekend. The hallways were empty, no students laughing or running around, no teachers rushing to their classes, just us. The small group of non-teaching personnel keeping the place alive for the day.

But even with the silence, there was something to look forward to. It was the birthday of our school librarian, who als happens to be a close friend of ours. We already knew she would prepare something because she loves celebrating her special day with the people around her. True enough, she arranged for spaghetti to be cooked and even bought gardenia tasty bread and sodas to complete the simple feast. Despite the gloomy weather outside, the atmosphere inside the school started to feel warm and cheerful.

Earlier that morning, we also agreed to surprise her with a birthday cake. We initially planed to buy one at LCC, but when we got there, everything was sold out. For a moment, we thought we wouldn’t be able to find any cake at all. Thankfully, we managed to buy one from another store just in time. It wasn’t the grandest cake, but what mattered was the thought behind it and we knew she would appreciate it no matter what.

When we arrived back at school, the timing was perfect. The spaghetti had just finished cooking, filling the room that familiar, comforting smell that instantly makes everyone hungry. Our librarian friend was smiling from ear to ear, excited but shy in that birthday person kind of way. Before anything else, we gathered around, placed the cake in front of her, and started singing our birthday wishes. The quiet school suddenly felt alive again with our laughter and voices echoing through the empty rooms.

She closed her eyes, made a wish, and blew the candle. That moment, even though so simple, felt genuinely warm. It reminded me how small celebrations like this can brighten an otherwise gray and rainy day. After the birthday song and prayer, we finally sat down to eat. The spaghetti was delicious, and the tasty bread and sodas completed the meal. We chatted about random things, laughed at old stories, and enjoyed the rare calmness brought by the suspension of classes.
