Let me show you today the #BBQ area along our #lake in the far… far #NORTH and the views around it, from last MEI 2024…
As you will see there was still some #snow around us if you look closely between the trees. ☃️
The calm and fresh day made for a beautiful #walk in the evening to check out the lake a bit more. 😊 Come along… and see for yourself.

Right now, everything is still covered in meters of snow ⛄️ so I can’t really get to the lake, as there are no paths or trails that are maintained. So… I just continue with #renovating the #cabin up the #mountain 😁 still lots of work. Soon I post about it. Just need to find some extra hours in a day hahaha 🤣

The neighbours little boats 🛶 are still there after the winter from last year.

Next to the bench and the BBQ there is this little box / hut with wood 🪵 for the bbq to light up.

Cute right… all is ready for some grilling with a view.

The BBQ itself stands on a large rock 🪨 far away from the forest around us.

Let’s take in the views 😊 soon it will be spring and the trees will have new leaves 🍃

We walk a bit along the lake.

Do you see the snow across the lake between the trees? It has not all disappeared yet.

It is a beautiful and tranquil place. Just us and nature… nothing else 🥰

The lakes edge is covered with vegetation… that grows on top of the rocks 🪨

I go down to get a low capture along the water…

Cute little plants. They survived the long 7 months winter really well.

Another artistic capture… a branch of the tree next to me.

A not so artistic view… the #forestry has #farmed most of the forest next to the lake. It looks very #barren on this side. Also a reality of living in the far north.
Luckily they do maintain the areas… and after a while they plant new trees for the next harvest in years to come. The sad part… #wildlife and natures ecosystem is disrupted for a longgggg time. 😕

Yep, we look out onto it when we look down the valley. In most photos you see our cabin half way up the mountain. In the 7th the best 😉
Great it reminded you of your time at your friend’s place 😊 it looked like lots of fun.

Beautiful lake. My lake nearest me has cabins and docks and campgrounds. There are a couple of lakes we hike up to that are more remote and undeveloped. I don't mind some carefully done harvesting of resources. The US Forest service calls US Forests "the land of many uses". I grew up fishing, hiking and camping on these lands. There was also cattle grazing and timber harvest on these lands. Many are now Wilderness Areas which severely limit use. I like balanced management of our National Forests.

I know what you mean. Here one never sees other people hahaha a totally different lifestyle.

They do it well here and some people don’t see that. They think about large bird of preys and leave some stumps up to 2 meter for the to land on. Etc. It is well done and thought about. People forget they still want wood products, it has to come from somewhere. Too little people live up here, the wider public just doesn’t know / see it.
Luckily they also leave the old forest 🌳 it would be bad if they wouldn’t. So like you, if well managed I am ok with it. If not… I am not 🫣
You know exactly how it is here than, having grown up surrounded with the same.

Where is this? It looks like Alaska...It looks very similar. In Alaska there are a lot of Cabins as well.

Oh believe me, I am having a great time here. Love the raw nature around me. The tranquility… the wildlife. Lately some deer are coming all the way to the cabin. It is stunning to see. I started feeding them.
This is almost at the polar circle in the Nordics 😊 it is indeed very similar to Alaska and we have 7 months of deep winter here now.

I'm in for a firewood cooked BBQ. I BBQed with cedar a few times before and my Roommate got to love food cooked with that aroma. Tried Applewood as a experiment but Cedar is cheap, literally free from where I find it. Can't go back to ordinary charcoal if I can help it. What is the most common firewood used here anyway?

Yes, nothing better than a BBQ on wood.
That’s wonderful, it gives it that little extra something special 😁
Haha I wouldn’t go back either to charcoal.
Here they use birch, spruce and beech, that what is surrounded in the area.
