FungiFriday ~ I found some coral and hedgehog mushrooms ~ Västermarks Nature Reserve, Botsmark ~ Sweden 🇸🇪

IMG_6785.jpeg

I still have some beautiful mushrooms to show you, found during my hike in the Nature reserve.
Today I share some coral- and hedgehog mushrooms with you.
If you missed the hike itself in this beautiful Swedish forest 🌳 , check it out here: Västermarks Nature Reserve ~ STUNNING HIKING TRAIL in BOTSMARK ~ SWEDEN

This post will be “My contribution to this #FungiFriday” by @ewkaw

It’s fun… why not join us!

Today’s photographic selection will be of 6 photographs.
Date : 7 AUGUST 2024
The Photographs in this post are taken with my iPhone.
I will follow the time stamps on them. So it looks like you are experiencing my adventures on this walk 💃🏻 to discover everything what I saw. Like the little details seen through my eyes, and discover all the mushrooms I found.

Let’s have a closer look at the coral mushrooms first:

IMG_6786.jpeg

They were growing out of the tree trunk that was laying on the forest floor.
IMG_6784.jpeg

I like their bright orange colour. They pop up between the green vegetation around us.
IMG_6787.jpeg

Next we have a look at the hedgehog mushrooms:
IMG_6803.jpeg

They were hidden under some thicker bushes. Did you know they are edible and delicious…? Frying them in the pan is so easy. I tried them for the first time last year when I found several on different hikes.
The hedgehog mushrooms are easily recognisable on the “teeth” under the cap, instead of gills. There are no poisonous mushrooms that look like the hedgehog mushrooms. Don’t take just my word for it: See the Wikipedia page below 👇🏻
Once you know them… you know them ;)
IMG_6804.jpeg

Have a read on the following Wikipedia page here - Hydnum repandum for more info.
It says;

”Hydnum repandum, commonly known as the sweet tooth, pig's trotter, wood hedgehog or hedgehog mushroom.”

It is an informative read, so don’t miss checking on this mushroom.
I will show you the coming 4 Fridays some more mushrooms I found during this very adventurous hike. So stay tuned… before we share new mushroom locations from around the world on my travels again.

…and here I say that’s all for today’s post my friends.
Join me next time for more updates, #adventures, #stories and photographs.
“Even my own artworks, once in a while, will come by” 🎨
Thank you for looking and reading. Stay tuned for more…

Nice finds! I have foraged hedgehog mushrooms in Vermont. They are tasty 😋 I have to step up my foraging. I used to forage with my son but he moved away last fall 🙁 He was my guide and knows mushrooms better than me.

Thanks!
Cool they are also in Vermont. I really like their taste.
A shame your guide isn’t closer by. Maybe try to learn a few staples so foraging is still worth it.
Have a beautiful Friday.

I know the basics - chicken of the woods, hen of the woods, lions mane, morels. Just need to get out there 👍

I am consistently impressed with the variety of unique mushroom species to be found in nature. The orange one kinda reminds me of cordyceps mushroom.

Yes, me too. Since I live in the nordics I never seen so many different kinds it is stunning to see.
It does resemble them. These ones are not parasitic.
Thanks for checking out my post.
Have a beautiful day.

Beautiful series of photos on these mushrooms, I did not know the hedgehog mushroom. I'll see if it's present in Quebec.
Have a lovely Friday

Walking with eager eyes is what allows us to find those details, treasures of nature that have no value to lazy eyes. Beautiful fungi

I must admit I don't know much about mushrooms and fungi, apart from the ones I get from the supermarket. but I know they make for great photography in the wild. PS. thanks for the witness vote.

Since I moved up north I never seen so many different kinds of mushrooms in autumn. They do make for some nice photographs indeed. A shame I have to wait a long time for autumn again. We have a long winter from almost 7 months here. Still snow around haha
Are there any mushrooms where you are or only in shops?
You are welcome. Happy to use all my votes and really look around the list and found your witness.
Thanks for checking out who I am and saying thanks. I appreciate it.
Have a wonderful weekend and great start of the new week. 😊
