☃️ A short walk through Västermarks Nature Reserve - the snowy forest in Botsmark ~ SWEDEN 🇸🇪

Let’s explore a walk through The VÄSTERMARKS #NATURE #RESERVE, its beautiful #FOREST ~ in BOTSMARK, Västerbotten County, #SWEDEN. 🇸🇪
This was a short walk as we were not equipped to walk further that day, over the #soft and #deep snow. We sinked in deep a lot, what isn’t a good idea for my back. So we stayed on a #snowmobile #trail until it stopped. ☃️❄️ The views are still worth the walk we did. Come along and check it out for yourself 😊

We parked our car on the parking 🅿️ area.
Next to it we find this sign 🪧 with information about this Nature Reserve. It shows you the trails you can walk. You can chose a long loop around or smaller ones, there are even shortcuts linking most trails through this area 😊

Next to the large sign with information we see these little signs showing us the start of the trails 😎

You have 2 options from here, a long trail from 8.3 km or a shorter one from 1.3 km.

I see this wooden construction. Normally they are used for wood. 🪵 As there is a cabin you can go to and bbq areas in this Nature Reserve. Now we see something colourful 🌈

Looking closer we see a few bird boxes painted in cute patterns, probably by children. The people that look after this area will hang them up for sure.

The start of the trails, this is our view. As it is already May this path has been traveled well and the snow is defrosting.

The snow is icy in places and very soft in others.

A little bit further we see another sign 🪧 More information about the wildlife, insects and nature can be found on it. We also see there have been several #controlled #fires 🔥 in different years in this forest. Marked on the map.
That has shaped this Nature Reserve. Now we can wander through these forests. Before it would have been impossible to enter due to the growth of shrubs and trees. Very interesting 🤔

Wandering a but further we see through the trees. The path is getting really bad to walk over. We sink in a lot, very deep.

We see a snowmobile trail and start walking over those tracks. We can walk better now 😎 the only thing… it doesn’t follow the trails into the forest further.
We look back and see the parking area.

We take in the views 😊

So beautiful to see this landscape. Imagine in the hight of winter 🥶 The snow will be METERS HIGH 😳 Here it started to melt as spring started.

We hear a little stream 🌊 we check it out and see it runs next to us under the thick snow. A few places it shows us the ground and water.

We are still on the snowmobile track wandering far to the right of this nature reserve.

I see some #fungi on the tree… wait… there are 2 of them. Do you see them? 🤓

In this area we see a collection of pine cones on the ground. The wildlife (squirrels or larger birds) must have taken it there in the tree above. Eaten the seeds out of them and they dropped down the tree in the same spot. It must be a favourite spot of an animal 🐿️🐦‍⬛

We see a larger river… it runs slowly 😊

We walk a bit further to see the river better 😎

The trees reflecting into the dark water of the river 🥰

Not much further we see a lake through the trees.

Sadly the soft snow doesn't allow us to get closer by. So we have a look from the tracks of the snowmobile.

We will visit this area another time. When we will be more prepared to walk in places like this 😎 As I sure want to check out this longer trail, I am curious to what we could find on it 😊
