Throttle and Hum
The roaring engines could be heard coming from afar.
"They are just a minute away," said the announcer over the loud speakers that echoed across the beach.
Everyone looked around unsure of the direction of the incoming planes.
Then people began pointing southeast, and the planes appeared over the downtown buildings, swooped across the ocean in an arc then back to shore where the crowd had gathered.
The engines whined with a metallic sound, raw visceral power humming with a sharp mechanical edge.
