Feeding Grounds (Best viewed with volume off)
Yes, excuse the wind on the mic and the out of control motion on the video. I didn't even think of the wind at the time of recording. I was so darn excited to see the Norther Flickers in action.
There were a couple of them. Likely a male and a female. One of them (probably the male because of the coloration) seemed to be looking for food on the ground. The female (or so it seemed to me) remained perched on the branch as seen on the video.

It had always seemed strange to me how every time I saw these birds, they were doing something in the bushes. As it turns out, they are ground feeders, though they put their nests up in tree cavities. They are mysterious- just going about their business as unobtrusively as possible without bothering anybody. Very polite and industrious. Seagulls could learn a thing or two from them.

I like the sound! You got a few really good shots there.
Thank you! I wasn't expecting to find this couple of flickers there. Chasing birds around a tree is not a bad way to spend an afternoon. :)
Beautiful video and what a nice bird, it has a peculiar colour and is very friendly. Good that you were able to film it and take pictures.😍
I think the bird was toying with me. He kept going around the tree outside of camera view, but I was patient. :)
Patience is the best thing of all, especially with birds.😉
Very true 🐦
