Did I Hear Someone Say, More Latte Art, Please?
I created some generative latte art pieces earlier this year that came out rather nicely. Here's the original post. Now that I'm getting my kicks using AnimateDiff to create generative animations, I thought I'd try to create some latte art.
I call this style Tsunami latte art
As soon as the first pieces came out, I knew I wasn't in Kansas anymore. To be fair, latte art is not meant to be animated, so I can see how the software had difficulty interpreting what I was asking for, especially given that I myself didn't know what to expect.
I tried different styles but that was just a mind-boggling exercise. I'm not even going to show you what it did with Picasso in the prompt.
Starry Night
There are times, when I feel a sense of jubilation after creating a piece of AI art that closely coincides with what I have in mind. In this case, I was just mystified, and I think the AI was perplexed as well, so when I saw the final piece generated, I knew it was time to stop right there and then.

These are some really mind bending generative pieces, and really cool.
It's hard to pick a favorite because they all have fascinating unique qualities.
Does it pass the Turing test yet?
I'm 100% sure I've been gaslit by AI on numerous occasions. Sometimes it takes immense levels of creatively constructing questions in different ways to extract answers, and sometimes it stops mid sentence (half answering) then says it's time for a new topic of conversation. The half answered questions are real hard to get back into focus usually.
Couple this with its art abilities and I'd say it smashes the Turing test easily.
So where does that place AI's advancement. Human level? Beyond human level? Quantum level?
These are tough questions, and AI will vehemently deny that it has surpassed human level capacity and thinking abilities.
The nature of AI is going to be so bizarre. We're way past the Turing test at this point. The software is showing some extremely complex behavior, and we don't understand it fully ourselves. There are also secret projects going on, so one of these days we'll wake up in a brave new world. Exciting and precarious times we live in. 🤖
