Close Encounters of the Bear Kind

I have only encountered one bear in my hikes. He was a massive boy who stood up, looked at me and my companion, then took off running at galloping speed. I had pepper spray, bear bangers, and fog horn, but to be honest, if that bear had charged, I wouldn't have been able to get my stuff out quickly enough to fiddle with it and try to make it work. You have to practice practice practice. You could also just stay home, but then what are the bears supposed to eat?

Reminder: Don't feed the bears.
