A Few Travel Nuggets
The first thing that struck me about the city of San Juan was how modern it actually was. I purposely avoided looking at images of the city beforehand. I wanted it to be a fresh experience. So much of what I knew about the city was filtered from old Hollywood films that depicted San Juan as it used to be decades ago. Around me, however, I saw a modern metropolis with one foot in the past, and the other firmly in the future. Its great freeways running along the blue waters of the Caribbean. This section of the city at least, looked similar to your average North American city.

It was still early morning the day of arrival. Thankfully, the hotel had space to temporarily store luggage for guests who arrived early.
After grabbing coffee in a nearby coffee shop, I was on my way to the beach when I heard a click-clack click-clack sound behind me.
I stopped and turned; to my surprise, I saw a two legged creature running towards me.
It took me a little while to register that I was looking at a chicken!

It was a surreal moment. There weren’t any fields or bushes around. It was an urban environment full of buildings and cement. Yet here was this creature running as it was just another day in the neighbourhood. So many thoughts crossed my mind when I saw the bird. I couldn't fathom a chicken running wild in the city back home.

I was transfixed, and little concerned, as the chicken rushed past me and then turned a corner at full speed. For a moment I stood there wondering if I had just hallucinated that event.

Walking further along, I came across an empty lot where there were more birds hanging out, including a rooster.
Ah! So that was the reason the bird was in such a rush. She was looking for her flock.

The birds seemed to be roaming free and wild. This made me think of the Canada geese back home, walking around as if they own the place.
Welcome to Puerto Rico!

Thank you so much! That chicken is on a run :D
Amazing photos of the city of San Juan and how the birds play comfortably there among human life. Cheers :)
It was so great to see the wild life there.
The chicken knew what it was doing!!! Impressive, but... it wasn't a hallucination!
It was like a "Run Lola Run" type of situation, except with chickens. :D
🤣🤣🤣
