There is that term brainstorming, when ideas come out of our heads like thunderbolts 🙂

Do you know what my situation is?
Every idea that comes to my mind goes to one section of the brain with a short deadline for elaboration and decision-making, because if an idea related to whatever I leave to "cooks" for a long time, I run the risk of not realizing it due to the fear of potential risks of failure or damage. So, the fear we have inside us is the main culprit for not fulfilling our ideas.
When you are not hindered by the fear of failure, you can easily implement most ideas. Time will tell in the end, whether the idea was good or not 🙂

But somehow I am of the opinion that it is better to regret if I did something and it didn't work, than to regret that I didn't do something.

It's true that our own fear or laziness can kill many ideas but then I also think that we can't just realize all the ideas that come to us. For me the challenge is weed out what is not worth keeping and concentrate on the few gems...

I tend to have great ideas, never write them down at the right time, try and remember them later and fail. I’m trying to write a novel but find writing as I go rather than fully planning the idea is working better for me so I guess I’m better processing on the fly!

I've tried to start to write a novel several times. When I write a kind of plan and scaffolding of the story, I tend to lose my motivation to write. The only thing that works for me is just to write in the moment...

Usually I tlak some of my ideas mostly with my wife, and then my father then my brother, but not many from outside of my family. I think mostly I am a listener, and would love to learn from other's stories or ideas than to talk about mine. Although I must say some of them was not work well so much. !LOLZ !PIZZA !LUV

I will jot them down in my notebook and come back to it after a few days to see if it still makes sense. :)

If the idea passes the test of time they are definitely worth considering. One day one idea seems great, the next day... not so much...

I actually ponder quite a bit and do a fair amount of research before implementing any hare-brained idea that hits me. Depending on how I feel after that, I will then take action... or not at all! 🤣

I have a lot of these ones as well and the most difficult is to realize their lack of quality...

I get my ideas from observing my surroundings and then I put them down in a notebook.

I usually start by jotting down my thoughts in a notebook or digital app.
Then, I organize them into categories or themes to see how they relate to each other.
After that, I refine and develop them further, often discussing with friends or colleagues for feedback.

I think that this is very important. Often isolated ideas can be good but they can become great if combined with others.

Mostly scribble my thoughts on the paper.

But, some post ideas are spontaneous and in that moment i write about it. One or two click with the readers, others are no shows like low budget movies :-)

Or spreadsheets for number simulation

All start there

I'm always thinking and ruminating on ideas. The ones I don't want to forget I write them in a notebook or in my digital notes app.

I'm one of those people who, when I have an idea, quickly jot it down on my phone with a voice note.

In the past I was running around with a paper note pad that fit into my pocket. The phone is so much easier...

First off I write down all my ideas so that I don't forget them five minutes later... lol That typically leads to research and every now and again one pans out nicely. I have several businesses I would love to set up, just not enough time. I'm always looking around for a younger, trustworthy go getter who can run with the concept (and pay me my portion as well).

I also failed to mention money on a couple! With funding a couple would be multimillion dollar businesses in five years. Only problem being is the COVID vaccine gave me pulmonary hypertension so I likely wont' be around in five years. Ain't life grand?

Depending on what it is, it's usually just in my head and then a debate with others.
If an idea requires the participation of several people, I prefer to stop because I know from experience that I can rely on and trust only a few people, but they're already obsessed with the realization of their ideas :)
On the other hand, if I propose an idea that I can't implement myself, others usually don't understand.
So, I realize what I can process on my own through trial and error, and then I remove the mistakes.
But if I'm in a group, I like to get one piece of an activity that is then part of the group. I don't like it when it comes to an agreed-upon realization that somebody else wants to be clever.
To make ideas a reality is the most complex process, I think.

That's very interesting. I also realized that there are only few people who are open minded enough to share my ideas with.

I use notes on my phone, stick an idea in there, sometimes I act on it, sometimes it rolls on and on.

But if writing a Hive post for example, I either plan and writing a few drafts or just blitz it when I have a fresh coffee!

Look at the positive side of the idea -> What impact does it have on the current situation? -> Find the negative side of the idea -> Measure the positive and negative side -> If we must accept the idea, plan for accepting with mitigating the negative side if and only if it really happens (I hope not) / if we get a choice, thinking of accepting and rejecting under every circumstance.

I'll make a list. Note that not all of them apply at the same time, it often depends on the idea:

  • if it's concrete and simple enough, I may just test it out, experiment with it
  • meditate on it, especially if it's not very concrete, but rather blurry
  • research it (nowadays I may use AI too for that)
  • make some calculations to see if it's feasible or if there are multiple options what's the best choice (again, I may use AI)
  • if I need advice or a second opinion, talk to someone, either in real life or online; it may be here on Hive if it applies; I may write a post or be engaged in a discussion about the idea

I usually discuss it with my husband, especially if it's something big and related to our livelihood. We'd brainstorm the possibilities, identify the pros, cons, and others. When we think it is viable, we'd do or implement them at once.

I was sharing all my ideas with my wife but I have a lot of ideas and I tended to overwhelm her a bit lol. So now I think things through first before I talk to her :-)

That's even better :) At least she wouldn't be overwhelmed when things are trimmed down.

I tend to look at both sides, and try to figure out. I think there are advantages to both sides, and sometimes there are just too many bias when you only watch on side. For posts, I just focus on what I enjoy, but writing down ideas and figure things out later when I think about it.

It's a good strategy to write the stuff down. How many ideas did I 'lose' because I didn't write them down...

I usually think about it a little bit and then I consult someone, if it's something very important. If it's something trivial, I prefer to experience things myself 😅

I also try to evaluate the idea before I check it by somebody else. Especially my wife is kind of tired of my ideas. Therefore I first let it ripe before I share 😅

I think it depends on the feasibility of the ideas and how serious the idea is. If there are people who are knowledgeable in that field, I might talk to them to find out more. But if there is no one, and I don't have enough information, there's always the AIs like ChatGPT, Grok, etc and I find that they give very good answers sometimes.

Ai's can be very helpful in this respect. I also use them more and more when I want to test my ideas.

My ideas initially go into a notebook, I make a sort of mental map of something good or bad that could come from it, then I review why I had that idea, what will be its purpose? and finally I pass it on to someone else and present my points to them.

Usually I will discuss it with my wife and ensure I not making some wild thoughts and she will bring me back to ground. Subsequently I will brainstorm further to think if the idea is practical to be carried out or not.
