Luego de un fin de semana de festejos y novedades, retornamos a nuestro hogar. El jueves pasado mi esposo y yo fuimos a mi pueblo natal, Contramaestre, con el fin de cumplir dos tareas importantes. La primera, festejar con mi querido padre sus 59 años de edad, y la segunda comprar un movil nuevo para mi, pues ya venía necesitando uno urgentemente.

Ambas actividades fueron todo un exito. Hubo sus pequeñas turbulencias, pero algo que adoro de mi familia es que no dejamos que las malas noticias empañen nuestro dia. Al comprarme el movil (que fue lo primero que hice) de inmediato me inicie en hive bajo la tutoría de mi amado esposo @alto96, y he de decir que estoy amando la experiencia. Disfruto mucho lo colorido y nutritivo que es el ecosistema.

El viernes 2 de mayo, mi querido padre cumplió sus 59 años de edad. Todo cubano es consciente de la situacion actual del país, pero en mi familia no se desperdicia oportunidad para festejar. Por muy simple que sea el festejo, vale la ocasión para despejar la mente, sonreir y olvidar un poco los problemas.

After a weekend of festivities and news, we returned home. Last Thursday, my husband and I went to my hometown, Contramaestre, in order to accomplish two important tasks. The first was to celebrate with my dear father his 59th birthday, and the second was to buy a new cell phone for me, as I had been needing one urgently.

Both activities were successes. There was a little turbulence, but one thing I love about my family is that we don't let bad news dampen our day. Upon buying my cell phone (which was the first thing I did), I immediately created my Hive account, under the mentorship of my beloved husband @altos96, and I have to say I am loving the experience. I really enjoy how colorful and nourishing the ecosystem is.

On Friday, May 2nd, my dear father celebrated his 59th birthday. Every Cuban is aware of the current situation of the country, but in my family we do not waste the opportunity to celebrate. No matter how simple the celebration may be, it is worth the occasion to clear the mind, smile, and forget a little about the problems.

El no sabia lo que le teníamos preparado, pensaba que su cumple iba a pasar por alto. Mi hermana, toda una repostera en emprendimiento se encargo del cake; el cual decoramos a su gusto con tematica de Tae-Kwon-Do, arte marcial que el practica desde hace muchos años. De hecho mi padre es VI Dan de Tae-Kwon-Do ITF.

Se imaginaran nuestras caras y espíritu cuando llega el técnico y nos dice que el arreglo cuesta 25 000 pesos. Cifra que para el cubano comun es bastante elevada.

My mother helped with the preparation of the sweets, the cold salad, and the empanadillas, which were divine. Well, my sister inherited her passion and talent for baking from her. The real bad news is that the Freezer is not ours but my uncle's, who gave it to us because he couldn't have it at home and wanted it to be put to use to ensure its proper functioning. Sin embargo, no permitimos que eso nos hundiera, teníamos mucho por lo que celebrar y decidimos enfocarnos en eso. Cuando todo estuvo listo llamamos a mi padre, el se habia ido a despejar y de paso encontrar una solucion para el problema del Freezer. Su rostro era un poema de emoción al ver todo lo que le habíamos preparado. Eso nos lleno de alegria.

Entre risas y dulces pasamos la tarde, y en un instante de tranquilidad mi padre nos cuenta algo que le sucedio en su salida. Resulta que después de orarle y pedirle al señor por ayuda para ver la luz de como resolver la situación actual, le llega un mensaje de un amigo que se encuentra en estos momentos en los Estados Unidos. El amigo le habia mandado un dinero como regalo por su cumpleaños.

However, we didn't let that get us down. We had a lot to celebrate and decided to focus on that. When everything was ready, we called my father. He had gone, to clear out and find a solution to the Freezer problem. His face was a poem of emotion when he saw everything we had prepared for him. That filled us with joy.

We spent the afternoon laughing and eating sweets, and in a moment of tranquility, my father told us something that happened to him on his way out. It turns out that after praying and asking the Lord for help to see the light of how to solve the current situation, he received a message from a friend who is currently in the United States. The friend had sent him some money as a gift for his birthday.

Finalmente, mi esposo y yo retornamos a nuestro hogar en Santiago de Cuba. Pero los festejos no terminan, porque justo hoy mis amigos y yo comenzamos a realizar una iniciativa que, inspirada por la novela cubana en transmisión, se llama Domingos de Gloria. La idea era bastante parecida a la original, crear un espacio, un día determinado para compartir, reir y disfrutar.

Finally, my husband and I returned to our home in Santiago de Cuba. But the celebrations do not end, because just today my friends and I start an initiative that, inspired by a Cuban TV show in transmission, is called Domingos de Gloria (Sundays of Glory). The idea was quite similar to the original: to create a space, a certain day to share, laugh, and enjoy.
