Es increíble ver cómo toda una vida se desarrolla ante tus ojos. Es como si estuvieras viviendo una historia en la que no solo fueras el protagonista, sino que también tienes el lujo de apreciar otras historias a tu alrededor.

It is incredible to see how a whole life unfolds before your eyes. It is as if you are living a story in which not only you are the protagonist, but, also have the luxury of appreciating other stories around you.

Hoy quisiera hablar un poco acerca de la historia de mi hermana mayor. Una chica simple, humilde, noble y hermosa que se ha abierto paso en la vida entre tantos cactus y rocas puntiagudas. Mi hermana se embarazó cuando tenía solo 17 años. Para mis padres esto fue un shock, pues que tu hija más cumplidora y responsable se embarace siendo una adolescente no es precisamente algo que celebras al primer instante.

Today I would like to talk a little about the story of my older sister. A simple, humble, noble, and beautiful girl who has made her way in life among so many cactus and sharp rocks. My sister got pregnant when she was only 17 years old. For my parents, this came as a shock—the fact that their most dutiful and responsible daughter got pregnant as a teenager is not exactly something they celebrated at the first instant.

Sin embargo, recibió el apoyo de la familia. Me convertí en tía a los 13 años de edad y para ser honesta es uno de los tesoros más grandes que la vida me ha obsequiado. Volviendo a mi hermana, siempre sentí que vivía su vida un poco en reprimido debido a que ya era mamá, tenía responsabilidades, pero a pesar de eso siempre se vio feliz. Comenzó a trabajar como económica en la oficina de la ONAT (Oficina Nacional de Administración Tributaria).

However, she received the support of the family. I became an aunt at the age of 13, and to be honest, it is one of the greatest treasures life has given me. Going back to my sister, I always felt that she lived her life a little bit repressed because she was already a mother and had responsibilities, but in spite of that, she was always happy. She started working as an economist in the ONAT office (National Tax Administration Office).

Siempre tuvo sus hobbies y pasiones como todos. Al inicio su pasión fue la manicura, por lo que practicó este arte durante varios años, hasta que decidió dejarlo. Por dificultades económicas, tuvo que vender todos sus artículos de manicura. Mas, siguió adelante y unos años mas adelante comenzó a sentir una pasión escondida por la repostería. Al inicio, como todo, los obstáculos eran tan grandes que pensó que eso no era para ella.

She always had her hobbies and passions like everyone else. At the beginning her passion was manicure, so she practiced this art for several years, until she decided to quit. Due to financial difficulties, she had to sell all her manicure articles. But she kept going and a few years later she began to feel a hidden passion for pastry making. At the beginning, like everything else, the obstacles were huge and she thought it was not for her.

Cometió varios errores que le costaron la confianza en su arte y un poquito también la autoestima. Sin embargo, no se dejó caer por completo, pues su pasión por la pastelería solo iba en aumento. Luego de varias caídas, desarrolló y perfeccionó su práctica y salió a relucir ese talento que tenía oculto dentro. La verdad sea dicha, se convirtió en una de las mejores reposteras que tiene mi pueblo natal, y no solo porque lo diga yo, sino sus clientes. De más está decir que me llena de orgullo ver cómo se ha desarrollado y aún se sigue desarrollando la historia de mi querida hermana.

She made several mistakes that cost her confidence in her art and a little bit of her self-esteem. However, she did not let herself fall completely, as her passion for baking was only growing. After several falls, she developed and perfected her practice and brought out the talent she had hidden inside. Truth be told, she became one of the best pastry chefs in my hometown, and not just because I say so, but because her customers say so. Needless to say, it fills me with pride to see how the story of my dear sister has developed and continues to develop.

A veces la vida nos presenta retos que parecen imposibles de superar y hasta nos lleva por un camino que creíamos que no era para nosotros. Como dice el dicho, todo lo que sucede conviene. Por momentos nos vemos incapaces de cumplir tareas, pero la vida no te deforma, te transforma, hasta que salgas de ese capullo y te conviertas en una hermosa mariposa.

Sometimes life presents us challenges that seem impossible to overcome and even takes us down to a path we think is not for us. As the saying goes, it is convenient everything that happens. At times, we find ourselves unable to accomplish tasks, but life does not deform you; it transforms you until you come out of that cocoon and become a beautiful butterfly.

Por eso te aconsejo: confía en el proceso. Confía en la vida, ojo, no digo que te sientes a esperar que la vida te resuelva todo, sino que no te frustres cuando algo no salga de la manera que esperas, o quieres. Todo sucede por una razón. Confía en ti.

That is why I advise you: trust in the process. I am not saying that you should sit and wait for life to solve everything but that you should not get frustrated when something does not turn out the way you expected or wanted it to. Everything happens for a reason. Trust in yourself.
