Hello friends of Dayli Blog! I hope you are having a wonderful day. Today I want to share with you an experience I had on Saturday while walking through the Alameda de Paula, a place that always surprises me with its hidden charms.
I was captivated by the walls painted in vibrant salmon and white tones, with bars that invited you to enter its mystery. From the street, the creative energy of this place could be appreciated. A large sign at the entrance revealed the secret to me: it was the Butterfly Wings Project. That name, so poetic, and also like a perfume I had and liked a lot, was enough for me, with a little curiosity, to cross the bars and enter this artistic world.
Hola amigos de Dayli Blog! Espero que estén pasando un día maravilloso. Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes una experiencia que viví el sábado mientras caminaba por la Alameda de Paula, un lugar que siempre me sorprende por sus encantos ocultos.
Me cautivaron las paredes pintadas en vibrantes tonos salmón y blanco, con rejas que invitaban a adentrarse en su misterio. Desde la calle, se apreciaba la energía creativa de ese lugar. Un gran cartel en la entrada me reveló el secreto, era el Proyecto Alas de Mariposa, ese nombre, tan poético, ademas igual a un perfume que tuve y que me gusó mucho , fue suficiente para que, con un poco de curiosidad, cruzara las rejas y entrara a este mundo artístico.
The first thing I saw was a cemented garden, with carefully designed and well-kept flowerbeds, where trees and plants grew, creating a green and serene space in the middle of the city. But what really caught my attention were the murals and graffiti that decorated the walls. They were very colorful. They were very colorful. Tables full of handmade works were distributed throughout the garden, in addition to very colorful paintings.
Lo primero que vi fue un jardín de cemento, con canteros cuidadosamente diseñados y cuidados, donde crecían árboles y plantas, creando un espacio verde y sereno en medio de la ciudad. Pero lo que realmente me llamó la atención fueron los murales y grafitis que decoraban las paredes. Eran muy coloridos. I approached one of the tables and there I met Marlen, the project coordinator. She kindly explained to me the history and philosophy of Butterfly Wings, an environmental cultural project that since 2009 offers a space for artistic and personal growth to children and young people in vulnerable situations, with the support and funding of a Turkish collaboration.
Me acerqué a una de las mesas y allí conocí a Marlen, la coordinadora del proyecto. Con mucha amabilidad me explicó la historia y filosofía de Alas de Mariposa, un proyecto cultural medioambiental que desde 2009 ofrece un espacio de crecimiento artístico y personal a niños y jóvenes en situación de vulnerabilidad, con el apoyo y financiación de una colaboración turca.
That day, being a Saturday, only the works of the participants were on display. Marlen told me about the crochet, painting and Hebrew dance classes that are given to children, a beautiful tribute to the culture that this initiative fosters. The project goes beyond art, it also has a small gastronomic space where classes are given that combine Cuban fast food with Hebrew cuisine, teaching children and young people the rules of a professional service. An initiative that seeks to provide a comprehensive gastronomic culture and, at the same time, provide a useful trade. Marlen commented that this space was closed that day due to delays in supplies, but she enthusiastically described to me how participants learn and enjoy these practical classes, some of her favorites. I found the wooden seats and tables very original.
Ese día, por ser sábado, solo se exhibían las obras de los participantes. Marlen me contó de las clases de tejido a crochet, pintura y danza hebrea que se imparten a los niños, un hermoso homenaje a la cultura que fomenta esta iniciativa. El proyecto va más allá del arte, también cuenta con un pequeño espacio gastronómico donde se imparten clases que combinan la comida rápida cubana con la cocina hebrea, enseñando a los niños y jóvenes las reglas de un servicio profesional. Una iniciativa que busca brindar una cultura gastronómica integral y, a la vez, brindar un oficio útil. Marlen comentó que ese espacio estaba cerrado ese día por demoras en el suministro, pero me describió con entusiasmo cómo los participantes aprenden y disfrutan de estas clases prácticas, unas de sus favoritas. Me parecieron muy originales los asientos y mesas de madera.
Dance also has a special place in this project. Marlen introduced me to the dance teacher, an enthusiastic woman who, together with her students, offers classes and exhibits her choreographies on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Her passion for dance is contagious. This community initiative is closely linked to the neighborhood schools, creating an important support for local children and youth.
En este proyecto, la danza también tiene un lugar especial. Marlen me presentó a la profesora de danza, una mujer entusiasta que, junto a sus alumnos, ofrece clases y exhibe sus coreografías los martes y jueves. Su pasión por la danza es contagiosa. Esta iniciativa comunitaria está muy vinculada a las escuelas del barrio, creando un importante apoyo para niños y jóvenes de la localidad.
I spent a good time in this corner, admiring the beauty of the garden, the colorful paintings and crafts. What really moved me was the enthusiasm and dedication of the people involved. Marlen and the dance teacher conveyed an infectious passion for their work and for the positive impact the project is having on the community. It was, without a doubt, an enriching experience

Lo que realmente me conmovió fue el entusiasmo y la dedicación de las personas involucradas. Marlen y la profesora de danza transmitieron una pasión contagiosa por su trabajo y por el impacto positivo que el proyecto está teniendo en la comunidad. Fue, sin duda, una experiencia enriquecedora.
