March; my journey

Just like yesterday that we greeted ourselves happy new year, we are in the fourth month of the year. When I look back at the past months and check on my list of new year resolutions, I can see some progress. Some notable achievements.

The month of March started with examinations in my institution. This is one of the most important period of my work. The activities include examination supervision, marking of scripts and compilation of results. It was a hectic period. I was always busy from morning till afternoon with limited rest. If I was not supervising, I would be marking. Being a military setting, every task comes with a strict timeline to get it done. No one would listen to any excuse.

It was at the course of the examination that we entered the month of Ramadan in Islamic calendar. Every Muslim is mandated to fast from dawn to dusk daily for 29 days of 30 days as the case may be.

Though I have been doing it for years, this year's own came with a lot of stress. The stress is associated with the harsh weather being witnessed in my location presently. Before the beginning of Ramadan, I was always hydrating my system to mitigate against the effects of the scorching sun. It took me a few days for my system to adjust and cope with the fasting. At the beginning, I was longing for water to cool my system. After a few days, I got used to it and the fasting continued smoothly.

It distorted by routine activities because my sleeping pattern changed. I was sleeping very late after praying taraweeh and would also wake up early to eat sahur. During the day, I would have to get a few hours of rest after returning from work. This was to keep my system running.

The fasting affected many of my other activities including my hive activities. It reduced the time that I had to come online to interact and read or make posts.

It is an annual month that affords me the opportunity to get closer to my creator in worship. I made good use of the month to appreciate the Almighty and commit the next year into his hands.

In this same month of March, I made significant progress in my quest to develop myself. I got admission for an MSc programme in the university. It's been years that I had wanted to pursue my masters degree studies but due to one reason or the other, I wasn't able to achieve that until last month. I submitted the application last year and the admission list was released in March. I paid the acceptance fee immediately. This is necessary to accept the admission.

Another activity worthy of mention in March was the Easter celebration. I joined my colleagues who are Christians to celebrate the season of sacrifice. I always look forward to such opportunities to celebrate the unity in our diversity. I put calls across to my friends and family to wish them good luck in the spirit of Easter.

In the final days of March, I traveled to Jos, Plateau state to begin my registration for the MSc programme. The registration was completed successfully and I returned to my base in Kaduna.

All I can say is that March was a great month for me. I made some progress. However, my activities on the blockchain were affected as I earlier stated.

I look forward to a more fulfilling April and the other months of the year.
