FungiFriday || Pilatoporus mushroom
I just found the Pilatoporus mushroom growing on a durian tree in my garden. I have to admit that I am very interested in its unique appearance and of course I want to learn more about it and hope to find a lot of knowledge from it. Do you have a broad understanding and knowledge? about this mushroom? yeah if there is please tell me because this will be something very important to enrich my knowledge especially in the field of mushrooms.
For now we can explain briefly about this fungus, Pilatoporus is a type of wood fungus which has an attractive appearance and is important in the forest ecosystem, this fungus is also included in the Hymebochaetaceae family and it can be confirmed that this fungus can only be found growing on this type of wood. hard, including the durian tree in it, and this is a personal experience for me because this is the first time I have found the pilatopurus mushroom growing on a living durian tree.
I still wonder why this fungus can grow on living trees? Usually fungi can only be found growing on trees that have rotted, because basically fungi have a role in decomposition in the forest ecosystem, will this cause the death of my durian tree? Hopefully the appearance of this fungus on our durian trees does not lead to death, that would be a great shame considering that our durian trees are currently very productive in producing fresh fruit every year, on the other hand I also assume that this fungus can grow there due to the influence of the flood mud. attached to a durian tree, yeah I don't know for sure and I will study it further to get a definite answer.
