The day I earned an Honors diploma - ENG/ESP

Hello to all Hive readers!
In 2018 I got my job in the Ilustre Municipalidad de Olmué, the truth is that I feel it was a stroke of luck and that it came at the right time. I was coming from a job that I did not like at all and therefore I had resigned, in that job I felt that I was getting more exhausted than usual, I felt sad and almost depressed. So one day I simply took the decision and left with my resignation letter to my boss. After that moment, I felt free and with one less weight to carry on my shoulders.

En 2018 conseguí mi trabajo en la Ilustre Municipalidad de Olmué, la verdad es que siento que fue un golpe de suerte y que llegó en el momento justo. Venía de un trabajo que no me gustaba para nada y por lo tanto había renunciado, en ese trabajo sentía que me estaba agotando más de la cuenta, me sentía triste y casi deprimida. Así que un día sencillamente tomé la decisión y me fui con mi carta de renuncia a mi jefa. Luego de ese momento, me sentí libre y con un peso menos que llevar en mis hombros.

Now I had to solve the problem of not having a job. After putting my resume in the office of the Municipality, a couple of days later, they were calling me for a job interview. I got dressed up that morning and with all the enthusiasm and nerves, I arrived on time, they asked me a few questions and that was it. In the afternoon, I received the most awaited call at that moment, the woman who would later become my boss was calling me to tell me that I had the job and that I would start the next day.

Ahora tenía que solucionar el no tener trabajo. Luego de meter mi currículum en la oficina de la Municipalidad, un par de días después, me estaban llamando para una entrevista de trabajo. Me arreglé esa mañana y con todo el entusiasmo y nervios, llegué a tiempo, me preguntaron algunas cosas y eso fue todo. En la tarde, recibí la llamada más esperada de ese momento, me estaba llamando la que sería luego mi jefa para decirme que tenía el puesto y que empezaría al día siguiente.

I liked it very much, I was doing things I liked about my career, designs, going to the field to see houses of people who needed some kind of help to fix their houses, etc. I worked there for almost four years until, for family reasons, I decided to return to Venezuela for a while.

Así empecé en ese trabajo, me gustaba mucho, estaba haciendo cosas que me gustaban de mi carrera, diseños, ir a terreno a ver casas de personas que necesitaban algún tipo de ayuda para arreglar sus viviendas, etc. Estuve trabajando por casi cuatro años allí hasta que por razones familiares decidí regresarme a Venezuela un tiempo.

I had told my boss that I was going to resign to return to my country, it took him by surprise, but he understood. Just for those dates, March, was the celebration of Workers' Day and it was time for a celebration for all the workers of the Municipality, where we all gathered in a Multipurpose Hall and there they gave awards of honor to one worker per office.

Este día en especial del que les quiero contar hoy, fue justo antes de venirme, había avisado a mi jefe que iba a renunciar para volver a mi país, la verdad lo tomó por sorpresa, pero lo entendió. Justo para esas fechas, marzo, se celebraba el Día del Trabajador y tocaba hacer la celebración para todos los trabajadores de la Municipalidad, donde todos nos reuníamos en un Salón Multiuso y ahí entregaban reconocimientos de honor a un trabajador por oficina.

Everyone in my office was sitting very close listening to the ceremony and among us, I was talking to my friends when suddenly I heard my name over the loudspeakers, I was in shock at that moment and saw my colleagues applauding me and telling me to go up to the stage. That honor my boss decided to give me as a farewell gift and besides that, to take advantage of the moment to recognize all my work in the Municipality.

Todos los de mi oficina estábamos sentados muy cerca escuchando la ceremonia y entre nosotros, yo, estaba hablando con mis amigas cuando de repente escucho mi nombre por las altavoces, me quedé en shock en ese momento y vi a mis compañeros aplaudirme y decirme que subiera a la tarima. Ese honor mi jefe decidió dármelo como un regalo de despedida y además de eso, aprovechar el momento para reconocer todas mis labores en el Municipio.

It filled me with joy to be able to obtain this merit and even more so being a foreigner among so many Chileans who were so fond of me. So I said goodbye to them, taking them to this day in the bottom of my heart.

Me llenó me dicha poder obtener ese mérito y más siendo extranjera entre tantos chilenos que me tenían tanto cariño. Así me despedí de ellos, llevándolos hasta hoy en el fondo de mi corazón.
