Good afternoon/evening friends. Today I bring you the first part of my new home project. I know I'm a bit obsessive about things and I always like to be constantly fixing things that I feel my home is missing. Since I built the attic, I have some levels that are a little awkward to go up and down.

Buenas tardes/noches amigos. Hoy les traigo la primera parte de mi nuevo proyecto de casa. Sé que soy un poco obsesiva con cosas y siempre me gusta estar en constante arreglo de las cosas que considero le falta a mi hogar. Desde de construí el ático, tengo algunos niveles que son un poco incómodos para subir y para bajar.

Specifically I have two levels, because when you get upstairs, you get to a lower level, then on the left hand side I have the high wooden floor, and on the right hand side a concrete floor belonging to the building. Both wooden levels are approximately 35 meters high, and the concrete floor is 60 centimeters high. On that concrete floor, which is small in area, as it should be about 1.80 square meters in total, I want to leave it as storage, because the apartment has no trunk or anything like that, so all my junk I have to put it somewhere.

Específicamente tengo dos niveles, ya que cuando llegas arriba, llegas a un nivel más bajo, luego a mano izquierda tengo el piso de madera alto, y a mano derecha un piso que es de concreto perteneciente al edificio. Ambos niveles de madera están a 35 metros aproximadamente de diferencia de altura, y el de concreto a 60 centímetros. En ese piso de concreto, que es pequeño en área, ya que debe tener aproximadamente 1.80 metros cuadrados en total, quiero dejarlo como depósito, porque el departamento no tiene maletero ni nada parecido, así que todos mis trastes debo ponerlos en algún sitio.

My idea is to close all that space with Drywall walls that I will soon tell you the process, and leave a small door. There my idea is to store suitcases, tools and any kind of things that I don't use often. But in order to get there, I need a ladder, but I don't want that ladder to take away space from my attic by being fixed, so I want to make it FOLDING. So I looked for ideas and got one on YouTube that fits what I'm looking for: foldable and easy to make.

Mi idea es cerrar todo ese espacio con paredes de Drywall que prontamente les contaré el proceso, y dejarle una pequeña puerta. Ahí mi idea es guardar maletas, herramientas y cualquier tipo de cosas que no use seguidamente. Pero para poder llegar ahí, necesito una escalera, pero esa escalera no quiero que me quite espacio a mi ático quedando fija, por lo que quiero hacerla PLEGABLE. Así que busqué ideas y conseguí una por YouTube que se adapta a lo que busco: plegable y fácil de hacer.

First, I had some pine boards left over from the construction of the attic, so I wanted to take advantage of them. As I didn't know much what I had to do and even less because I have never done anything like this, I first made a "mock-up" on paper. I measured it in a similar scale so that it would be as close to reality as possible.

Primero, tenía unas tablas de pino que me habían quedado de la construcción del ático, por lo que quería aprovecharlas. Como no sabía mucho lo que tenía que hacer y menos porque nunca he hecho algo así, hice primero una “maqueta” en papel. La medidas la hice en una escala parecida para que quedara lo más cercana a la realidad.

Then I made the drawing on the wall to have it as clear as possible, I even drew the hinges that would go and also the latch so that they do not fall. I drew with a pencil, a tape measure and a level, so that my vertical and horizontal lines would be 100% straight. Then I made the respective drawings always trying to adapt them to my boards, I didn't want to buy more than the hinges. What I did buy was a cardboard that I would use to make my design pattern, since I need it to be as accurate as possible, and I traced the drawing that I had on my wall and I put them on the cardboard. Finally in this first stage, I cut the cardstock, marked on the boards with the patterns, and the next thing I will do, will be to cut the boards and start the fun. Now what comes next is to cut the boards I have, fix them to the wall and wait until I have measured everything well. But I'll tell you about that in a future post!

Luego realicé el dibujo en la pared para tenerlo lo más claro posible, hasta dibujé las bisagras que iban y también el cerrojo para que no caigan. Dibujé con un lápiz, una cinta métrica y un nivel, así me quedarían 100% rectas tanto mis líneas verticales como las horizontales. Luego hice los dibujos respectivos siempre tratando de que se adaptaran a mis tablas, no quería comprar más que la bisagras. Lo que sí compré fue una cartulina que la usaría para hacer mi patrón de diseño, ya que necesito que sea lo más precisa posible, y calqué el dibujo que tenía en mi pared y los plasmé en la cartulina. Por último en esta primera etapa, corté las cartulinas, marqué en las tablas con los patrones, y lo próximo que haré, será cortar las tablas y empezar lo divertido. Ya ahora lo que viene es cortar las tablas que tengo, fijarlas a la pared y esperar que lo haya medido todo bien. Pero ya eso se los contaré en una próxima publicación!
